Molecular Tumor Testing on Colorectal Adenocarcinoma Specimens in a Large Community-Based Healthcare System.

Purpose: This study aimed to describe the adherence of National Comprehensive Cancer Network guidelines to perform genetic screening for all colorectal cancer (CRC) specimens with molecular tumor testing, eg, immunohistochemical (IHC) testing, in a large community-based healthcare setting. The study also identified trends involving characteristics of CRC, individual reporting physician, and physician location and examined the potential impact of these trends on the performance of molecular tumor testing.

Methods: This was a retrospective, multi-center study using a centralized pathology database to assess molecular testing on CRC specimens.

Hyperemesis gravidarum is a common disease. Most patients are effectively treated with conservative measures, but gastric feeding and, rarely, post-pyloric feeding can be necessary. A 27-year-old woman, G3P2002, with a history of refractory hyperemesis in previous pregnancies, required placement of a nasojejunal tube but was removed due to an oropharyngeal ulcer.

Rapid Review: Nonsteroidal Anti-inflammatory Agents and Aminosalicylates in COVID-19 Infections.

In the current COVID-19 pandemic, there has been concern regarding the use of ibuprofen and other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory agents by COVID-19 infected patients. Aminosalicylates (5-ASAs) are structurally similar and have anti-inflammatory functions that resemble those of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory agents. Since 5-ASAs are a mainstay treatment for inflammatory bowel disease, the authors review the pharmacology of both classes of drugs and discuss the potential relevance of 5-ASAs in the ongoing discussion of medication use in patients infected with COVID-19.
