Introduction And Hypothesis: Autologous fascia lata has been increasingly utilised in pelvic floor reconstructive surgeries such as sacrocolpopexy and sacrohysteropexy. This case highlights sacrohysteropexy with autologous fascia lata as a promising option for women with advanced uterovaginal prolapse who wish to preserve their uterus and avoid synthetic mesh.

Methods: We report the case of a 65-year-old woman with stage 3 pelvic organ prolapse following one forceps and one spontaneous vaginal delivery.

Article Synopsis
  • This study investigates the effect of melatonin on reducing cesarean births during labor induction, hypothesizing that it may help lower the need for surgical intervention.
  • The trial was randomized and double-blind, involving 189 women with healthy singleton pregnancies, comparing those given 10 mg of melatonin to a placebo.
  • Results showed that cesarean rates were similar between the two groups, but the melatonin group had a lower rate of spontaneous vaginal births within 24 hours, leading to early termination of the trial due to logistical issues from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Pelvic organ prolapse (POP) is a highly prevalent yet neglected health burden for women. Strengthening thepelvic floor with bioactive tissue-engineered meshes is an emerging concept. The study investigates tissue regenerative design parameters, including degradability, porosity, and angulation, to develop alternative degradable melt electrowritten (MEW) constructs for surgical applications of POP.

Cellular therapy is an emerging field in clinical and personalised medicine. Many adult mesenchymal stem/progenitor cells (MSC) or pluripotent derivatives are being assessed simultaneously in preclinical trials for their potential treatment applications in chronic and degenerative human diseases. Endometrial mesenchymal stem/progenitor cells (eMSC) have been identified as clonogenic cells that exist in unique perivascular niches within the uterine endometrium.

Objectives: To assess the concordance between biopsy and radical prostatectomy (RP) specimens using the 2005 Gleason score (GS) and the International Society of Urological Pathology (ISUP) 2014/World Health Organization 2016 modified system, accounting for the introduction of transperineal biopsy and pre-biopsy multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging (mpMRI).

Patients And Methods: Between 2002 and 2019, we identified 2431 patients with paired biopsy and RP histopathology from a prospectively recorded and maintained prostate cancer database. Biopsy specimens were graded according to the 2005 GS or ISUP 2014 modified system, according to the year of diagnosis.
