Chest pain is one of the major causes for admission in the Emergency Room in most countries and one of the principal reasons for urgent consultation with a cardiologist or a general practitioner. After clinical examination and initial biological measurements, substantial patients require further explorations. CT scan allows the search for pulmonary embolism in the early stage of pulmonary arteries iodine contrast exploration.

We hypothesized that changes in arterial properties differ according to the arterial territory (upper or lower body), and arterial structure (elastic vs. muscular arteries), in response to 60-day head-down bed rest (HDBR).

It can be difficult to diagnose when asymptomatic or in the paroxysmal stage, and its natural history is not well understood. New wearables and connected devices offer an opportunity to improve on this situation.

Different therapeutics strategies have been proposed to control blood pressure (BP), but their independent impact on cardiac function remains undetermined. In patients with resistant hypertension, we compared the changes in cardiac parameters between two strategies based on sequential nephron blockade (NBD) with a combination of diuretics or sequential renin-angiotensin system blockade (RASB).
View Article and Find Full Text PDFResistant hypertension is defined as uncontrolled blood pressure (BP) despite three antihypertensive agents including a diuretic (thiazide diuretic if renal function is normal or loop diuretic in case of chronic kidney disease with eGFR<30mL/min), a renin-angiotensin system blocker (ARB or ACEI) and a calcium channel blocker, at optimal doses. Resistance must be confirmed by out-of-office measurements (ambulatory blood pressure monitoring or home blood pressure monitoring) and patients should be asked about treatment compliance and excessive salt or alcohol intake. If the diagnosis of resistant hypertension is confirmed, the patient should be referred to a hypertension specialist to screen for secondary causes of hypertension as they are frequent in this context.

Background: Ambulatory ECG monitoring is typically achieved using portable devices with limited number of surface leads, autonomy, and length of recording. Smart garments with multiple conductive textile electrodes provide great promise to perform continuous and comfortable ECG monitoring.
Methods: We evaluated the ECG signal quality measured on healthy subjects with a smart 12-lead ECG acquisition T-shirt or a 12-lead Holter recording.
Background: The multicenter, international, randomized, blinded, sham-controlled RADIANCE-HTN SOLO trial (A Study of the ReCor Medical Paradise System in Clinical Hypertension) demonstrated a 6.3 mm Hg greater reduction in daytime ambulatory systolic blood pressure (BP) at 2 months by endovascular ultrasound renal denervation (RDN) compared with a sham procedure among patients not treated with antihypertensive medications. We report 6-month results after the addition of a recommended standardized stepped-care antihypertensive treatment to the randomized endovascular procedure under continued blinding to initial treatment.
