Gravid uterine torsion less than 45 degrees is a common phenomenon of the third trimester. Torsion greater than 45 degrees represents a rare, pathologic, and obstetric emergency. The rotation of the uterus on a longitudinal plane can result in vascular compromise, and it has potential for catastrophic maternal-fetal complications.
