Background And Objective: To compare the risk factors for the development and progression of pigmentary retinopathy in patients exposed to pentosan polysulfate sodium (PPS).
Materials And Methods: Retrospective cohort study of patients exposed to PPS with at least two follow-up visits with multimodal imaging.
Results: A total of 97 patients were included (33 with PPS-associated retinopathy and 64 without).
Purpose: To evaluate the initial efficacy and safety of intravitreal faricimab in eyes previously treated for neovascular age-related macular degeneration (nARMD).
Patients And Methods: A retrospective review of all patients with nARMD previously treated with anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (anti-VEGF) injections who received at least 3 intravitreal faricimab injections with at least 3 months of follow-up.
Results: A total of 190 eyes were included.
Purpose: To evaluate the relative efficacy of as needed versus treat and extend regimen for the treatment of neovascular age-related macular degeneration (AMD).
Methods: We conducted a systematic review of studies that evaluated the efficacy of as needed or treat and extend regimen for neovascular AMD by searching multiple databases up to December 2013. Included studies were selected based on study duration of no less than 12 months, availability of outcome data, treatment protocol for as needed groups or pro re nata (PRN) receiving bevacizumab or ranibizumab, and all studies with treat extend protocols following the 'inject and extend' regimen.
The central role of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) signaling in regulating normal vascular development and pathological angiogenesis has been documented in multiple studies. Ocular anti-VEGF therapy is highly effective for treating a subset of patients with blinding eye disorders such as diabetic retinopathy and neovascular age-related macular degeneration (AMD). However, chronic VEGF suppression can lead to adverse effects associated with poor visual outcomes due to the loss of prosurvival and neurotrophic capacities of VEGF.

Recent Findings: Smoking has been shown to be a strong risk factor in the development of choroidal neovascularization. Alleles that have been identified as a risk factor for the development of choroidal neovascularization in age-related macular degeneration have not shown to be associated with Presumed Ocular Histoplasmosis Syndrome-related choroidal neovascularization.

Purpose: To determine whether penetrating scleral or corneal injury can enhance intraocular penetration of systemic moxifloxacin, vancomycin, and ceftazidime.
Methods: Thirty rabbits were divided into 3 groups for each antibiotic and then further subdivided to receive either scleral or corneal injury to the right eye. The left eye served as a control.
