Stereotactic biopsies are used to aid neurosurgeons in clinching the diagnosis of intracranial lesions that are difficult to access surgically. A published study of stereotactic biopsies in our center demonstrated a diagnostic yield of only 76% for biopsies from the year 2014 to 2019. A set of criteria/prerequisites was applied to increase yield.

In the region of East Malaysia where patients have various ethnic backgrounds and native languages, planning and execution of these procedures can be somewhat challenging.
Methods: This is a retrospective analysis of 11 awake surgeries conducted by the Department of Neurosurgery in Sarawak.

Methods: Clinical data of 143 adult patients diagnosed with TBM over a 6-year period in two tertiary hospitals in Malaysia were retrospectively reviewed. Relevant clinical and radiological data were studied.
Caroticocavernous fistulae can occur following transsphenoidal surgery even without evidence of carotid artery injury. A role of vascularized flap reconstruction may be contributory.

Occipital encephaloceles are described as giant when they are larger than the head from which they arise, and they pose a great surgical challenge. Herein, we present a case of a giant occipital encephalocele in a neonate with Chiari malformation Type 3 to highlight the problems encountered in its management and the outcome of the surgery.

The rarity of hemangiopericytoma (HPC) and its controversial histological classification result in its frequent misdiagnosis and thus make the treatment quite challenging. It is often difficult to distinguish these tumors from meningiomas based on clinical features and radiological findings. This is a case report of a man, diagnosed clinically and radiologically as meningioma, which turned out to be anaplastic HPC on histological examination.
