We present a case of a neonate with Shone complex in addition to the underdevelopment of the right ventricle associated with dysplasia and stenosis of the tricuspid valve. Because of lack of effective surgical options, the patient was transplanted at the age of 8days. A gradient was noted in the postoperative period across the inferior vena cava anastomosis.

Necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC) is a major cause of morbidity and mortality in premature infants. The pathophysiology is likely secondary to innate immune responses to intestinal microbiota by the premature infant's intestinal tract, leading to inflammation and injury. This review provides an updated summary of the components of the innate immune system involved in NEC pathogenesis.

Background: Anastomotic leaks after colorectal operation continue to be a significant cause of morbidity. A covered endoluminal stent could seal a leak and eliminate the need for diversion.
