Secretome from hypoxic mesenchymal stem cells as a potential therapy for ischemic stroke: Investigations on and expression.

Ischemic stroke is a sudden onset of neurological deficit resulting from a blockage in cerebral blood vessels, which can lead to brain tissue damage, chronic disability, and increased risk of mortality. Secretome from hypoxic mesenchymal stem cells (SH-MSC) is a potential therapy to improve neurological deficit by increasing the expression of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and reducing glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP). These effects can reduce the infarction area of ischemic stroke.

A pediatric case and literature review of mucormycosis: Diagnostic and treatment challenges in a resource poor setting.

Mucormycosis is an emerging disease that primarily affects immunocompromised patients; however, it has also been reported in immunocompetent individuals. Studies in the pediatric population are limited and reported mostly in case studies or series. The aim of this case report is to present a pediatric mucormycosis originated from Sumatra Island, Indonesia.

Objectives: With the reopening of schools, the detection of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in children is very important in order to prevent outbreaks in schools and to reduce the risk of more severe post-COVID-19 complications. Various specimens can be used to detect the SARS-CoV-2 virus, and saliva has been considered as an alternative specimen in adults. However, data in children are lacking, especially among the female population.

Genome Sequence of a Foot-and-Mouth Disease Virus Detected in Indonesia in 2022.

During 2022, outbreaks of foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) were reported across the islands of Indonesia, a country that had previously maintained an FMD-free (without vaccination) status since 1990. This report describes the near-complete genome sequence of a representative FMD virus collected from these cases belonging to the O/ME-SA/Ind-2001e lineage.

Integration of symptomatic, demographical and diet-related comorbidities data with SARS-CoV-2 antibody rapid diagnostic tests during epidemiological surveillance: a cross-sectional study in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Objectives: Affordable options for COVID-19 epidemiological surveillance are needed. Virus detection by reverse transcription-PCR (RT-PCR) is sensitive but costly, and antigen-based rapid diagnostic tests (RDTs) are cheap but with reduced sensitivity; both detect current infection but not exposure. RDT-IgM/IgG antibodies to SARS-CoV-2 detect exposure but have poor sensitivity for current infection.

Unrecognized and delayed to diagnose of adolescence tuberculosis case in a boarding school in West Java, Indonesia.

Adolescent is a high-risk population for developing tuberculosis (TB) disease, unfortunately adolescence TB remains to be neglected. Clinical manifestations of TB are usually chronic and nonspecific that could be mimicking other disease. Unrecognized TB disease will lead to misdiagnosis, delayed, and inappropriate management.

A retrospective study was done on patients with bronchopneumonia hospitalized at the Dr. Pirngadi Hospital, Medan/School of Medicine, University of North Sumatera, during January 1985 through December 1989. The purpose of this study is to assess the morbidity and mortality of bronchopneumonia with measles and the nutritional status of the patients.
