Introduction: This report presents a rare case of a dentigerous cyst (DC) associated with the maxillary right canine in a young child, successfully treated with marsupialization followed by enucleation.

Presentation Of Case: A 9-year-old girl was referred to a maxillofacial hospital after routine dental exam revealed a large lesion in maxilla. Radiograph showed a 5 × 6 cm unilocular radiolucent lesion in the right maxillary sinus, with destruction of the sinus and nasal cavity walls and displacement of the upper right canine into the floor of the right eye.

We characterized the spatial distribution of drug-susceptible (DS) and multidrug-resistant (MDR) tuberculosis (TB) cases in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, a major metropolis in southeastern Asia, and explored demographic and socioeconomic factors associated with local TB burden. Hot spots of DS and MDR TB incidence were observed in the central parts of Ho Chi Minh City, and substantial heterogeneity was observed across wards. Positive spatial autocorrelation was observed for both DS TB and MDR TB.

Background: Globally, most people with multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) and their households experience catastrophic costs of illness, diagnosis, and care. However, the factors associated with experiencing catastrophic costs are poorly understood. This study aimed to identify risk factors associated with catastrophic costs incurrence among MDR-TB-affected households in Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC), Viet Nam.

Poly(ADP-ribose) (PAR) is a homopolymer made of two or more adenosine diphosphate ribose (ADP-ribose) units. The polymer is usually conjugated to protein as a posttranslational modification playing key roles in cellular processes, such as DNA repair, RNA metabolism, and biomolecular condensate formation. Emergent data revealed that PAR length is highly regulated and determines the selection of and affinity towards protein binders.

Objective: Management of multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) is a significant challenge to the global healthcare system due to the complexity and long duration of the MDR-TB treatment. This study analyzed the safety of patients on longer injectable-based MDR-TB treatment regimens using active pharmacovigilance data.

Method: We conducted an observational, prospective study based on active pharmacovigilance within the national TB program.

VE1 is a monoclonal antibody detecting mutant BRAF V600E protein by immunohistochemistry (IHC) with a high concordance rate with molecular analysis in many cancers. BRAF V600E mutation was assessed on 94 pediatric LCH patients using sequencing analysis and VE1 immunohistochemistry with stringent and lenient-scoring criteria. BRAF V600E mutation exon 15 was detected by sequencing in 47.

Background: Gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs) are the most frequent mesenchymal neoplasms of the gastrointestinal tract. Management of GIST patients is currently based on clinicopathological features and associated genetic changes. However, the detailed characteristics and molecular genetic features of GISTs have not yet been described in the Vietnamese population.

Background: Human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) is related to the pathogenesis and poor outcome of numerous types of carcinomas, including gastric carcinoma. Gastric cancer patients with HER2 positivity have become potential candidates for targeted therapy with trastuzumab.

Methods: We investigated 208 gastric cancer specimens using immunohistochemistry (IHC), fluorescence hybridization and dual hybridization (ISH).

: Administration of coronary reperfusion therapy to patients with an acute myocardial infarction (AMI) within the proper timeframe is essential in avoiding clinical complications and death. However, the extent of pre-hospital delay is unexplored in Vietnam. This report aims to describe the duration of pre-hospital delay of Hanoi residents hospitalized with a first AMI at the Vietnam National Heart Institute .

Background: Cardiovascular disease is one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality in Vietnam. We conducted a pilot study of Hanoi residents hospitalized with a first acute myocardial infarction (AMI) at the Vietnam National Heart Institute in Hanoi for purposes of describing the prevalence of cardiovascular (CVD) and non-CVD comorbidities and their impact on hospital management, in-hospital clinical complications, and short-term mortality in these patients.

Methods: The study population consisted of 302 Hanoi residents hospitalized with a first AMI at the largest tertiary care medical center in Hanoi in 2010.

Few oral health databases are available for research and the advancement of evidence-based dentistry. In this work we developed a centralized data repository derived from electronic health records (EHRs) at four dental schools participating in the Consortium of Oral Health Research and Informatics. A multi-stakeholder committee developed a data governance framework that encouraged data sharing while allowing control of contributed data.

Background: Cardiovascular disease is one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality in Vietnam. We conducted a pilot study of Hanoi residents hospitalized with acute myocardial infarction (AMI) at the Vietnam National Heart Institute in Hanoi. The objectives of this observational study were to examine sex differences in clinical characteristics, hospital management, in-hospital clinical complications, and mortality in patients hospitalized with an initial AMI.

Three new cleistanthane diterpenes named tomocinon (1), tomocinol A (2), and tomocinol B (3), were isolated from the EtOAc extract of the seed of Caesalpinia sappan. Their structures were determined by extensive NMR spectroscopic analysis. The absolute stereochemistry of tomocinon (1) has been established by CD spectroscopic analysis.
