Reactions of 1,2-dimagnesioethane compound [{K(NON)Mg}(μ-CH)] (NON = 4,5-bis(2,4,6-tricyclohexylanilido)-2,7-diethyl-9,9-dimethyl-xanthene), formed by the two-electron reduction of ethene with a dimagnesium/dipotassium complex of reduced N, viz. [{K(NON)Mg}(μ-N)], with CO and CO have been explored. In the case of the reaction with CO, cross-coupling of the reduced ethene fragment with two molecules of CO gave a heterobimetallic complex of the parent cyclobutenediolate dianion, [{K(NON)Mg}(μ-OCH)], which when exposed to THF gave adduct [{K(NON)Mg}(μ-OCH)(THF)].

This study focuses on the synthesis, characterization, and evaluation of the photocatalytic efficiency of bismuth-based metal-organic frameworks (Bi-MOFs) and their derivatives, specifically Ag/Bi-MOF and NH /Ag/Bi-MOF, in the degradation of tetracycline (TC) and sulfamethoxazole (SMX) under visible light irradiation. Bi-MOFs are promising photocatalysts due to their large surface area, tunable porosity, and unique electronic properties that are favorable for visible light absorption. In this study, Bi-MOFs were synthesized using a solvothermal method, with the incorporation of silver (Ag) and ammonium (NH ) ions to enhance their photocatalytic performance.

The state-of-the-art, simple and scalable methods for lignin micro-/nano-particles recovery from agricultural biomasses were evaluated in this review. Being non-wood biomasses, these materials can be easily fibrillated, supporting the usage of mild soda or organic solvent pretreatment. Different approaches in particle recovery were compared to conclude that the bottom-up approach facilitates smaller particles towards the nano-size range whereas mechanical treatment can act as a supporting method to increase uniformity and reduce particle sizes after bottom-up precipitation.

Small cell lung cancer (SCLC) is a common type of primary lung cancer that contributes to approximately 15% of cases. It is closely associated with tobacco risk factors. It is also known as a type of lung cancer that has a high mortality rate within a short time due to its rapid growth rate (with tumor doubling time of 30 days) and its tendency to metastasize early in the disease process.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigated how well different age groups and individuals with COPD can detect and perceive breathing resistance during simulated loads, emphasizing the importance for airway protection and breathlessness management.
  • It involved 18 participants with COPD, 17 older adults, and 23 young adults, comparing their ability to detect changes in airway resistance and their perceived effort while breathing.
  • Findings showed that older adults had a steeper relationship between perceived effort and resistance compared to younger adults, suggesting that they may experience greater difficulty in respiratory effort due to increased awareness of breathing resistance, especially at higher loads.

Objectives: This study aimed to determine the recurrence rate and related risk factors of primary fallopian tube cancer (PFTC).

Materials And Methods: We conducted a retrospective study of 47 patients with histopathological diagnosis of PFTC treated at Tu Du Hospital between January 1, 2015, and July 31, 2022. The cumulative recurrence rate was estimated using the life table method, and recurrence-associated factors were determined using the Log-rank test and Cox proportional hazard model.

Wireless and battery-free radio-frequency (RF) sensors can be used to create physical spaces that ambiently sense and respond to human activities. Making such sensors ultra-flexible and transparent is important to preserve the aesthetics of living environments, accommodate daily activities, and functionally integrate with objects. However, existing RF sensors are unable to simultaneously achieve high transparency, flexibility, and the electrical conductivity required for remote room-scale operation.

This paper explores how Vietnamese former combatants navigate and contest the infrastructure of care and recognition (or lack thereof) for veterans, their families, and the war dead in postwar Vietnam. It examines efforts by veterans to establish their socio-political standing through acts of claim-making, including spiritual care for the dead. We argue that through these acts of claim-making, veterans forge an alternative modality of veteranhood based not simply on state-recognised war contributions, but also on moral commitments to social justice and care for the fallen and their bereaved families in the postwar period.

This study explores the synthesis, characterization, and photocatalytic properties of bismuth metal-organic framework (Bi-MOF) nanorods and their derivatives such as Ag/Bi-MOF and Ag/BiO. Bi-MOF nanorods exhibit significant photocatalytic activity under visible light, with the addition of silver (Ag) enhancing electron-hole pair separation and reducing their recombination. This leads to improved photocatalytic performance, particularly in the degradation of organic pollutants such as Rhodamine B (RhB) and Methylene Blue (MB).

While artemisinin and its derivatives, including 11-azaartemisinin-based compounds, have shown promising anticancer activity, the integration of halogens into aromatic structures can amplify drug potency, metabolic stability, and selectivity. Herein, we present the synthesis of new novel 11-azaartemisinin derivatives bearing halogenated aromatic moieties connected via 1,2,3-triazole bridges and evaluate their anticancer activities against three human tumor cell lines: epidermoid carcinoma (KB), hepatocellular carcinoma (HepG2), and human lung adenocarcinoma (A549). Among the synthesized compounds, six of them (8c-h) displayed good to excellent antiproliferative activity in the low micromolar range across all three human cancer cell lines.
