Background: While serial sampling of glioma tissue is rarely performed prior to recurrence, cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) is an underutilized longitudinal source of candidate glioma biomarkers for understanding therapeutic impacts. However, the impact of key variables to consider in longitudinal CSF samples for monitoring biomarker discovery, including anatomical location and post-surgical changes, remains unknown.

Methods: Aptamer-based proteomics was performed on 147 CSF samples from 74 patients, 71 of whom had grade 2-4 astrocytomas or grade 2-3 oligodendrogliomas.

Background: Clinically important improvement after total shoulder arthroplasty is often assessed with shoulder-specific patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) quantifying reduction in pain and restoration in function. It is unclear if commonly utilized threshold such as minimal clinically important difference (MCID), substantial clinical benefit (SCB), or patient acceptable symptom state (PASS), represent optimal improvement from the patients' perspective. The objectives of this study were to utilize the Simple Shoulder Test to: 1) compare commonly utilized thresholds for change in score and final score to thresholds optimized to patient satisfaction using receiver operative characteristic (ROC) curve analysis, and 2) determine the impact of using different thresholds on reporting of independent predictors of successful outcome in terms of patient satisfaction.

This study examined the presence and characteristics of microplastics (MPs) in water collected from potential mosquito oviposition habitats in Lubbock, TX. Water samples ranging from 10 to 1000 mL were collected from 36 suspected artificial and natural oviposition habitats, and sites were categorized as artificial containers, tires, or natural sites. Samples were filtered through a series of stainless-steel sieves and isopore membrane filters, and MPs were imaged and counted using a stereo microscope.

Here we demonstrate direct ink write (DIW) additive manufacturing of carbon nanotube (CNT)/phenolic composites with heat dissipation and excellent electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding capabilities without curing-induced deformation. Such polymer composites are valuable for protecting electronic devices from overheating and electromagnetic interference. CNTs were used as a multifunctional nanofiller to improve electrical and thermal conductivity, printability, stability during curing, and EMI shielding performance of CNT/phenolic composites.

Membranous nephropathy (MN) results from accumulation of antigen-antibody immune complexes along the subepithelial region of the glomerular basement membranes. Over the last years, 13 target antigens have been discovered and include PLA2R, THSD7A, EXT1 and EXT2, NELL1, SEMA3B, NCAM1, CNTN1, HTRA1, FAT1, PCDH7, NTNG1, PCSK6 and NDNF, accounting for 80-90% of MN antigens. MN associated with many of these antigens have distinctive clinicopathologic findings.
