Background: The adoption of integrated curricula in medical schools has grown globally, emphasizing the need to understand academic medical staff satisfaction as a crucial factor influencing successful implementation.
Aim: This study aimed to assess satisfaction levels among academic medical staff with integrated medical curricula, identifying socio-demographic and work-related predictors of dissatisfaction.
Methods: A cross-sectional, online multinational survey was conducted from December 2023 to April 2024 among 525 academic medical staff.
It is well known that cigarette smoking adversely affects human health and induces oxidative stress in most vital organs. This study aims to assess the biochemical, histological, and ultrastructural values of honey and garlic extracts in ameliorating the effects of short-term exposure to cigarette smoke in mice. Forty-eight mice were randomly divided into six equal groups: group I was exposed to fresh air only, group II was exposed to cigarette smoke, group III was given 0.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFIntroduction And Importance: This study aimed to determine the impact of DM, HTN and age on IVC dimensions as measured by CT scan relevant to guide interventions in a Jordanian population.
Presentation Of Cases: Two hundred patients were selected from those referred to the Radiology Department, Jordan University Hospital, Amman, Jordan for clinical evaluation. Patients were divided into three age subgroups.
Objectives: Intraoperative identification of anatomical structures can potentially reduce the risk of surgical complications. This study aims to report specialists' perspectives about the anatomical structures that third-year residents should be able to identify during surgical operations. In addition, the factors which may influence specialists' opinions are discussed.

Forty-eight adult male BALB/c albino mice were equally divided into four groups. Antioxidants were delivered intraperitoneally, and the exposure to waterpipe smoking (WPS) was performed using a smoking machine.

We conducted a retrospective imaging study in a large public secondary hospital on a nonrandom sample of 227 participants. We consecutively included adult patients who had undergone computed tomography angiography of the abdomen and excluded patients with a history of any vertebral abnormality or whose images revealed evidence of a vertebral abnormality or a congenital anomaly of any of the branches of the abdominal aorta.

Although dorsal metacarpal veins are the first choice for venous cannulation, there is scarce information about their anatomic variation. Hence, detailed anatomical information about these veins will improve the anatomic knowledge of the health care providers.

Our aim is to measure the interrater and intrarater agreement and reliability of ratings made using the two scales. We invited 16 radiology residents to attend two sessions, four weeks apart.

Normative values of pRNFL thickness remain undocumented in the Middle East. The aim of our study is to assess the normative values of pRNFL thickness in a Middle Eastern population.

Material And Methods: Blood lead levels were determined for a total of 90 male automobile workers aged within the range of 25-45 years old along with the group of 20 agematched healthy males control. To get an idea about the antioxidant status of controls and lead-exposed workers, and to estimate the oxidative stress caused by exposure to lead, we measured the hydrogen peroxide (HO) concentration, superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity, lipid peroxidation as malondialdehyde (MDA) and total antioxidant capacity of controls and workers.
The dorsal metacarpal veins are frequently cannulated. Cannulation success is determined by several variable anatomic features. The objective of this study is to classify, for the first time, the anatomic variants of the dorsal metacarpal veins.

It is occasionally a source of pain and local tenderness. Knowledge of the AN and its morphological variations can help identify the source of a patient's symptoms and prevent misinterpreting them as fractures.

Methods: A prospective pilot study was conducted on 205 volunteers (115 males and 90 females) not known to have any conditions likely to be associated with splenomegaly. The study was performed at the Radiology Department, Jordanian University Hospital, Amman, Jordan, between December 2013 and August 2014.
Bone and soft tissue infection in the foot of diabetic patients is a well-described issue in the literature. A sound anatomical knowledge of the foot anatomy and compartments is mandatory to understand the mechanisms of infection spread. We describe four cases of diabetic foot infection complicated by long ascending infection.

Subjects And Methods: This prospective study was performed by the neonatal and dental departments at Jordan University Hospital. The study included 100 women who gave birth to preterm singleton infants (born less than 37 complete weeks from last menstrual period) between January and July 2009.
Background: The study aimed to evaluate the level of burnout among the clinical dental students in two Jordanian universities.
Methods: A total of 307 students from the two schools were surveyed using Maslach Burnout Inventory survey. Scores for the inventory's subscales were calculated and the mean values for the students' groups were computed separately.
Background: This study aimed to investigate the prevalence of temporomandibular disorder (TMD) among students of the University of Jordan.
Methods: Information about the symptoms of TMD and the possible risk factors were collected using specifically designed questionnaires. The collected data sets were treated statistically using the SPSS release 14 package.
Background: Dental students are subjected to many stresses that may affect their achievement. The purpose of this study is to assess the mental and physical health of dental students in two Jordanian Universities.
Methods: A total of 265 dental students and 228 non-dental students from two Jordanian Universities participated in the study.
Healing of large diabetic foot ulcers may be difficult, particularly if the blood supply and chronic infection do not allow primary suturing. Split-thickness skin graft is a simple reconstructive technique used to close large wounds. Phenytoin is known to promote healing mainly by increasing granulation tissue formation.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFObjective: To examine the effectiveness of topical phenytoin in preserving the skin viability and increasing acceptance rate of autograft.
Methods: We conducted this study in the Central Laboratory Animal House of Jordan University of Science and Technology, Irbid, Jordan during the period from September 2004 to June 2005. Forty-two rats were divided into 2 equal groups; full thickness dorsal skin wound (4 cm2) was created in the rats.
Objective: To locate the neuronal motor cells of the mylohyoid muscle and discuss their topographical organization.
Methods: The present study was conducted at the Department of Anatomy and Histology, Faculty of Medicine, University of Jordan, Amman, Jordan between 2002 and 2003. The mylohyoid muscle in 15 albino rats was injected with 15 mliter of a retrogradely transported fluorescent material DAPI-Pr.
