The Glottal Area Waveform (GAW) is an important component in quantitative clinical voice assessment, providing valuable insights into vocal fold function. In this study, we introduce a novel method employing Variational Autoencoders (VAEs) to generate synthetic GAWs. Our approach enables the creation of synthetic GAWs that closely replicate real-world data, offering a versatile tool for researchers and clinicians.

In this study, the effect of dihydroartemisinin on cell growth, apoptosis and sensitivity of the AML cells to ABT-199 was investigated.
Methods: Cell proliferation and survival were assessed by trypan blue staining and MTT assay, respectively.
Introduction: Up-regulation of the anti-apoptotic proteins such as Mcl-1 is associated with the primary and secondary resistance of tumor cells to ABT-737 Bcl-2 inhibitor. The combined treatment of Bcl-2 inhibitors with Mcl-1 inhibitors has been proposed as an attractive therapeutic strategy to overcome this drug resistance. Here, we investigated the effect of dihydroartemisinin on Mcl-1 expression and sensitization of T-ALL cells to ABT-737.

Resveratrol (Res) is a phytochemical anti-oxidant that has also been effective in suppressing the progression of GBM.

Therefore, the use of plant compounds such as tannic acid with UPR-inducing properties can be proposed as a possible treatment method for cancer. In this study, we investigated the effect of tannic acid on cell migration, colony formation, growth, and UPR-induced apoptosis in the SW48 colorectal cancer cell line.

Not long ago, regulatory biomolecules referred to as long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) might have value for their innate abundance and stability. These single-stranded RNAs potentially interfere with several physiological and biochemical cellular processes involved in many human pathological situations, particularly cancer diseases.

Although cases of corneal involvement after vaccination have been reported, we present the first case of Thygeson superficial punctate keratitis (TSPK) linked to the COVID-19 vaccine.
Methods: This study is a case report.
We present a novel data structure for searching sequences in large databases: the Hierarchical Interleaved Bloom Filter (HIBF). It is extremely fast and space efficient, yet so general that it could serve as the underlying engine for many applications. We show that the HIBF is superior in build time, index size, and search time while achieving a comparable or better accuracy compared to other state-of-the-art tools.

Whereas approximately 10-15 % of ALS cases are familial, the etiology of the remaining, sporadic ALS cases remains largely unknown. Environmental exposures have been suggested as causative factors for decades, and previous studies have found elevated concentrations of metals in ALS patients.

RBD is the major target for developing viral inhibitors and vaccines. Expression of recombinant RBD in E.

This study aimed to evaluate the effect of anemia at admission on the overall survival of COVID-19 patients using accelerated failure time (AFT) models. This registry-based, single-center retrospective cohort study was conducted in a university hospital in Ilam, the southwest of Iran, between March 2020 and September 2021.

Epigenetic factors play an important role in the pathogenesis of NB. Recently, it has been demonstrated that circular RNAs (circRNAs, ciRNAs), a newly identified class of non-coding RNAs, are also dysregulated in NB.

Therefore, an enormous amount of data is collected but rarely ever reused, because it is nearly impossible to find meaningful experiments in the stream of raw data.
Results: As a solution, we propose Needle, a fast and space-efficient index which can be built for thousands of experiments in <2 h and can estimate the quantification of a transcript in these experiments in seconds, thereby outperforming its competitors.
Zn-doped CuFeO nanoparticles (NPs) were eco-friendly synthesized using plant extract. These nanoparticles were characterized by X-ray diffraction, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscope (SEM), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy and thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA). SEM image showed spherical NPs with size range less than 30 nm.

Zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnONPs) have been used widely to achieve antimicrobial films in various applications including the food industry. This work describes the fabrication of antimicrobial polymeric films containing ZnONPs produced by the coextrusion and dip-coating techniques.

Raptor uses winnowing minimizers to define a set of representative -mers, an extension of the interleaved Bloom filters (IBFs) as a set membership data structure and probabilistic thresholding for minimizers. Our approach allows compression and partitioning of the IBF to enable the effective use of secondary memory.

This research was investigating the degradation rate of TNT in aqueous solution using electrochemical combined with persulfate anions.
Methods: In this study, the effect of seven independent variables including pH, reaction time, current density, type (NaCl, NaSO, NaNO) and concentration of salts, initial concentration of TNT, scavenger type, and persulfate concentration were studied on TNT removal.
Chemoresistance is often referred to as a major leading reason for cancer therapy failure, causing cancer relapse and further metastasis. As a result, an urgent need has been raised to reach a full comprehension of chemoresistance-associated molecular pathways, thereby designing new therapy methods. Many of metastatic tumor masses are found to be related with a viral cause.

PD-1 and PD-L1 interaction is assumed as a negative regulator for immune response which can inhibit the T cell growth and cytokine secretion and supports tumor cells evasion from immune system. therefore, PD-L1 could be assumed as a candidate target for immune-therapy.

Background: Our study compare the short and long-term efficacy of the intra articular injections (IAIs) of hyaluronic acid (HA), platelet-rich plasma (PRP), plasma rich in growth factors (PRGF), and ozone in patients with knee osteoarthritis (OA).
Methods: In this randomized clinical trial, 238 patients with mild to moderate knee OA were randomized into 4 groups of IAIs: HA (3 doses weekly), PRP (2 doses with 3 weeks interval), PRGF (2 doses with 3 weeks interval), and Ozone (3 doses weekly). Our outcome measures were the mean changes from baseline (immediately from the first injections) until 2,6, and 12 months post intervention in scores of visual analog scale (VAS), Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC), and Lequesne index.
