Atrophy and protracted recovery of normal function of the ipsilateral quadriceps femoris muscle following anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction surgery is well documented. The Accelerated Recovery Performance trainer is a type of electrical stimulation device that delivers a high-pulse frequency via a direct current, making it unique from many other devices on the market. The purpose of the present study was to investigate the effects of the direct current (via the Accelerated Recovery Performance trainer protocol) on gains in thigh circumference following anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction.

Purpose: This study was performed to compare the minimal 2-year outcome of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction using bone-patellar tendon-bone (BPTB) allografts versus autografts, both augmented with an iliotibial band tenodesis.

Type Of Study: Retrospective review.

Methods: Forty-six of 52 BPTB ACL reconstructions using allografts and 33 of 37 BPTB ACL reconstructions using autografts were followed up at a mean of 2.

Absence of the long head of the biceps brachii tendon is rare (only 1 case reported). We believe that our article is the first to report this anomaly as associated with VATER complex (vertebral defects, anal atresia, tracheoesophageal fistula with esophageal atresia, and radial and renal anomalies).

Seventy patients with patellar tendon or hamstring tendon autografts for single-incision anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction were evaluated at least 2 years after surgery. All reconstructions were performed by the same surgeon, and metal interference screws were used for fixation of all grafts. No significant differences were noted between groups for Lysholm score, reduction in activity, KT-1000 arthrometer findings, quadriceps muscle size, return to sports, or ability to jump and do hard cuts and pivots.
