In this study, a linear model of the transformation of the stress amplitude due to the mean value was used. The coefficient of the material sensitivity to cycle asymmetry with consideration of the dependence of this coefficient on the number of fatigue loading cycles is also used. A three-parameter surface model of limited stresses is proposed in this paper.

The paper contains the results of fatigue tests of smooth and notched specimens made of 10HNAP (S355J2G1W) subjected to proportional cyclic loading with use of mean values stress. The results obtained for specimens under bending, torsion and one combination of bending with torsion for four mean values have been compared. The experimental data have been collected in the tables and shown in the figures with use of various σ(τ)-N fatigue characteristics for which parameters of the regression equations have been determined.

The poor fatigue strength of Ti-6Al-4V ELI is a main cause of failure in structural implants. In this work, Ti-6Al-4V ELI was subjected to β-solution treatment to obtain martensite microstructure and further subjected to -196 °C for 24 h. Significant improvement in high cycle fatigue performance of martensite Ti-6Al-4V ELI was observed on exposure to cryogenic cycle.

The paper presents an analysis of mixed-mode fatigue crack growth in bridge steel after 100-years operating time. Experiments were carried out under mode I + II configuration on Compact Tension Shear (CTS) specimens and mode I + III on rectangular specimens with lateral stress concentrator under bending and torsion loading type. Due to the lack of accurate Stress Intensity Factor (SIF) solutions, the crack path was modelled with the finite element method according to its experimental observation.
