Background: Ruptures of the distal biceps tendon (DBT) can affect the range of motion and strength of the elbow, raising concerns for patients seeking to restore normal function and engage in their regular activities, particularly returning to previous levels of sport participation.
Purpose: To characterize and assess the rate and timing of return to sport (RTS) after DBT repair.
Study Design: Systematic review; Level of evidence, 4.
Polarization is a property of light that describes the oscillation of the electric field vector. Polarized light can be detected by many invertebrate animals, and this visual channel is widely used in nature. Insects rely on light polarization for various purposes, such as water detection, improving contrast, breaking camouflage, navigation, and signaling during mating.

Being a member of a minority (vs. majority) is a common experience that varies both between groups in a context and within a group between contexts, but how does it affect in-group love? Across six studies, we examined when and why .

In the present study, we investigated monthly 8 sites at two depth layers and over a one-year period the bacterial and eukaryotic community dynamics along the Seine macrotidal estuary (Normandy, France). To date, the taxonomy of the microbial diversity present in this anthropized estuary remains elusive and the drivers of the microbial community structure are still unknown.

Objective: we applied a GRS of 6-SNP (GRS-6) in HS individuals.
Introduction: In the scenario of chronic osteomyelitis following an ankle fracture, limb salvage and ideally infection eradication, can be an alternative to amputation.Tibiotalocalcaneal arthrodesis is perhaps the most popular procedure. When performing fusion in osteomyelitis patients, external fixation is more commonly used, although there is some experience with internal fixation.

Recently, recurrent variants in the U4 RNA, transcribed from the gene, and in at least two other genes were discovered to cause neurodevelopmental disorder.

However, most underlying gene discovery efforts have focused on individuals of European ancestry, limiting insights into genetic risks across diverse populations. To help address this, the Genomics of Autism in Latin American Ancestries Consortium (GALA) was formed, presenting here the largest sequencing study of ASD in Latin American individuals (n>15,000).

Aged individuals are more likely to experience increased pain and slower recovery after trauma. Such injury can damage vulnerable peripheral axons of dorsal root ganglion (DRG) neurons resulting in somatosensory dysfunction.

Background And Objectives: The immature platelet fraction (IPF) count is a parameter that quantifies young and reticulated platelets in peripheral blood, which reflects platelet production in the bone marrow. It has been used as a predictive model for bone marrow recovery in patients with acute leukemia after high-intensity chemotherapy and/or stem cell transplantation. This study aimed to evaluate IPF as a predictor of hematologic recovery in these patients.

We introduce CLinical Entity Augmented Retrieval (CLEAR), a RAG pipeline that retrieves information using entities. We compared CLEAR to embedding RAG and full-note approaches for extracting 18 variables using six LLMs across 20,000 clinical notes.

The patient presented at the emergency room with left lower quadrant pain and scrotal pain. The clinical examination was not suggestive of an acute abdomen.

Objective: Carry out epidemiological surveillance of the etiology of acute undifferentiated febrile syndrome in the Meta department.
Methods: A descriptive, prospective cross-sectional study was carried out between February 2021 and June 2023 in a first-level hospital in the department of Meta, Colombia.
Purpose: Telehealth genetic counseling is comparable to in-person visits in terms of satisfaction, knowledge, and psychological outcomes, but using visual aids can be challenging on telehealth platforms. This pilot study assessed if the "screen-sharing" feature via Zoom to display visual aids during results disclosure session positively impacted parental experience and comprehension of their child's genomic results especially in underrepresented groups and those with limited English proficiency.
Methods: In the TeleKidSeq pilot study, 409 children with suspected genetic conditions underwent genome sequencing.
Purpose: Compassion fatigue can impact oncology nurse's personal and professional life, which may, in turn, affect the quality of patient care. The aim of this study was to estimate the prevalence of compassion fatigue and identify risk and protective factors among Australian oncology nurses caring for adult cancer patients.
Methods: 170 Australian oncology nurses caring for adult cancer patients completed a cross-sectional online survey comprising demographic information, the Professional Quality of Life, the HEXACO Personality Inventory-Revised and the Practice Environment Scale of the Nursing Work Index.
PAS domain-containing serine/threonine-protein kinase (PASK) is a nutrient and energy sensor regulated by fasting/refeeding conditions in hypothalamic areas involved in controlling energy balance. In this sense, PASK plays a role in coordinating the activation/inactivation of AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) and mechanistic target of rapamycin (mTOR) in response to fasting. PASK deficiency protects against the development of diet-induced obesity.

Most LHSs operate within a specific healthcare system, typically hospital-based, under a common electronic health record (EHR) and management structure. The Early Psychosis Intervention Network in Texas (EPINET-TX) is a novel case study of a developing LHS across 16 independent community mental health clinics operating state-funded coordinated specialty care (CSC) programs for early psychosis.

Healthcare disparities and economic limitations make effective treatment access challenging. It is crucial to consider the best practice therapeutic decision-making, including emerging long-term preventive therapies, to ensure patients in LATAM and elsewhere can effectively manage their disease all over the world.

In a high-content image-based screen of the human ubiquitome, we here identify the E3 ligase Pellino 3 (PELI3) as a crucial regulator of starvation-induced autophagy. Mechanistically, PELI3 localizes to autophagic membranes, where it interacts with the ATG8 proteins through an LC3-interacting region (LIR).
