Unlabelled: Testing methods of detecting various cardiac biomarkers play a significant influence in determining and treating cardiac-related conditions and ultimate prognosis. With the increasing global prevalence of cardiac disease, the importance of rapid testing methods in diagnosis and management has grown tremendously. The point-of-care testing (POCT) method is a potential biochemical diagnostic technique that may overcome the issue of delayed laboratory results, particularly in regions with limited access to advanced laboratory equipment or resource-constrained.

Total anomalous pulmonary venous connection (TAPVC) is a rare cyanotic congenital heart disease and their survival into adulthood is even rarer. Here, we present the case of a 26-year-old female who was incidentally diagnosed with a case of supracardiac TAPVC during her pregnancy. All four pulmonary veins were joining to form a common venous confluence which drained into a left-sided vertical vein which drained into the innominate vein.

Introduction: To date, no international guidelines have been published for the treatment of paediatric functional abdominal pain disorders (FAPDs), subcategorised into functional abdominal pain-not otherwise specified (FAP-NOS), irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), functional dyspepsia and abdominal migraine (AM). We aim for a treatment guideline, focusing on FAP-NOS, IBS and AM, that appreciates the extensive array of available therapies in this field. We present the prospective operating procedure and technical summary protocol in this manuscript.

Objectives: Aerodigestive disorders encompass various pathological conditions affecting the lungs, upper airway, and gastrointestinal tract in children. While advanced care has primarily occurred in specialty centers, many children first present to general pediatric gastroenterologists with aerodigestive symptoms necessitating awareness of these conditions. At the 2021 Annual North American Society for Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition meeting, the aerodigestive Special Interest Group held a full-day symposium entitled, Pediatric Aerodigestive Medicine: Advancing Collaborative Care of Children with Aerodigestive Disorders.

Children with Hirschsprung disease have postoperative long-term sequelae in defecation that contribute to morbidity and mortality and significantly impact their quality of life. Pediatric patients experience ongoing long-term defecation concerns, which can include fecal incontinence (FI) and postoperative obstructive symptoms, such as constipation and Hirschsprung-associated enterocolitis. The American Pediatric Surgical Association has developed guidelines for management of these postoperative obstructive symptoms and FI.

Background: In patients with Hirschsprung disease (HSCR), soiling may be related to anal sphincter damage following the initial pull-through. No optimal treatment has been developed for such patients, although enemas (rectal or antegrade) have been applied with some success. We present the one-year outcomes of a new technique for anal sphincter reconstruction.

Background: Management of refractory constipation in children has not been standardized. We propose a protocolized approach which includes a contrast enema, anorectal manometry and exclusion of Hirschsprung disease (HD). For those without HD or with normal sphincters, an assessment of the colonic motility may be needed.

Insulin resistance (IR) plays an important role as a major determinant of Metabolic syndrome (MetS). Various methods are available for measuring insulin resistance but they are laborious, time-consuming, and costly. Therefore various surrogate markers and indices have been devised to simplify and improve the determination of insulin resistance.

Background: The surgical treatment of achalasia by both laparoscopic and endoscopic approaches has been recognized as the definitive management in children. Despite reported low volumes in many centers, there has been an increasing worldwide experience with endoscopic approaches to pediatric achalasia. The aim of this study is to report our institutional experience with per oral endoscopic myotomy (POEM) as first-line or revisional therapy for achalasia.

Here, we present a case of partial anomalous pulmonary venous return with the superior type of sinus venosus atrial septal defect. This case also had unusually persistent left-sided superior vena cava, which could not be diagnosed well in preoperative transthoracic echocardiography and required contrast-enhanced cardiac computed tomography scanning for proper diagnosing, operative planning, and avoidance of intraoperative problems. Postoperative, cardiac computed tomography scanning was also done to confirm adequate management.

Background: Cor triatriatum and supramitral ring are congenital anomalies which result in formation of three chambers of atria. To the best of our knowledge, simultaneous presence of both entities in the same patient resulting in the formation of four chambers of atria has not been described in the literature. Here, we report a case of simultaneous presence of cor triatriatum and supramitral ring associated with Raghib syndrome and Eisenmenger syndrome.
