Introduction: Gene therapy is now a reality for individuals with haemophilia, yet little is known regarding the quality-of-life impact of factor correction. As few data exist, and recognizing the analogy to liver transplantation (OLTX), we identified OLTX+ and OLTX- men in the ATHNdataset to compare post-OLTX factor VIII and IX on quality of life (QoL) by Haem-A-QoL and PROMIS-29.

Methods: OLTX- were matched to OLTX+ by age, race, and haemophilia type and severity.

Tuberculous colon perforation mimicking acute appendicitis: A case report and review of the literature.

Acute appendicitis is the most common surgical condition encountered in the pediatric age group but the clinical presentation could be misleading. This highlights the importance of exploratory laparotomy even in the absence of systemic manifestations in order not to miss a serious underlying pathology such as intestinal tuberculosis.

Comparison of Alvarado score evaluation and clinical judgment in acute appendicitis.

Background: Acute appendicitis is the most common surgical emergency in children, but its diagnosis is sometimes difficult. The aim of this study is to evaluate retrospectively the Alvarado score in relation to the surgical management based on clinical judgment.

The effectiveness of pudendal nerve block versus caudal block anesthesia for hypospadias in children.

Background: Caudal block (CB) has some disadvantages, one of which is its short duration of action after a single injection. For hypospadias repair, pudendal nerve block (PNB) might be a suitable alternative since it has been successfully used for analgesia for circumcision. We evaluated PNB compared with CB as measured by total analgesic consumption 24 hours postoperatively.
