Purpose: The purpose of this study was to review the currently available systematic reviews and meta-analyses comparing kinematic alignment (KA) and mechanical alignment (MA).

Methods: A literature search was performed to obtain all systematic review and meta-analyses comparing KA to MA that included one or more randomised controlled trials. A total of 18 studies were obtained, three of which were systematic reviews without meta-analysis.

Robotics and computer-assisted navigation have been developed to increase the accuracy of hip implant placement and improve long-term outcomes of total hip arthroplasty (THA). These technologies have shown significant improvements in implant positioning when compared to conventional techniques. Currently, 3 robotic systems are cleared for use for THA in the US.

Background: Isolated revision of an acetabular total hip component is associated with special problems related to the retention of the femoral component. We reviewed the intermediate-term results of a series of such operations with use of the Harris-Galante Porous acetabular component.

Methods: We retrospectively studied the results of ninety-five isolated acetabular revisions, specifically focusing on sixty-three that had been followed for a minimum of sixty months (average, 130 months).

Background: The use of cementless, proximally porous-coated femoral stems for total hip arthroplasty has increased in popularity. The purpose of the present report was to examine the five to ten-year results associated with the use of a so-called second-generation circumferentially proximally porous-coated titanium-alloy stem.

Recurrent varus deformity and an associated lateral instability are a common and perplexing concern after high tibial osteotomy. An anatomic study using fresh cadaver specimens was done to delineate the cause of this complication. A closing wedge osteotomy was done on four cadaveric knees, which then were subjected to a small varus load to simulate the adduction moment experienced by the knee during normal gait.
