Building on the gains of May Measurement Month 2017 (MMM17), the Philippine Society of Hypertension once again took part in MMM18 to raise awareness of high blood pressure (BP) in the country and to harness opportunistic BP screening in detecting unaware hypertensive individuals and referring them for treatment. We followed the standard MMM18 protocol designed by the International Society of Hypertension, utilizing convenience sampling with volunteer investigators, taking three sitting BP measurements of volunteer adults (≥18 years). Basic data on demographic, lifestyle, and environmental factors were also taken.

Participants resided in two barangays (districts), in Manila, Philippines, and each barangay was assigned to either the intervention or attention-control group. Methods: Stratified multistage sampling was used to cover the entire Philippine population of adults aged 20 years or older. Using health questionnaires, anthropometric measurements, and blood examinations, the prevalences of atherosclerosis-related risk factors and diseases were determined.
Objective: To measure the prevalence of the Brugada type 1 ECG pattern in the general population in the Philippines. STUDY SETTING AND DESIGN: Sudden unexplained death syndrome is rare in the West but is common among Southeast Asians. Ventricular fibrillation is the terminal event.

Objective: To compare the results of the GOALLS and STATT studies that used similar titrate-to-goal protocols with 20 mg up to 80 mg simvastatin in Asian and non-Asian coronary heart disease (CHD) patients.
Methods: GOALLS (N = 198; included non-Asians and Asians) and STATT (N = 133; included Asians only) were both multi-center, open-label 14-week studies in CHD patients with serum low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) levels 115 mg/dL-180 mg/dL and triglycerides (TG) levels < or = 400 mg/dL.
