Objective: The purpose of the study was to evaluate the results of using fluoropolymer-coated mesh during intraperitoneal onlay mesh hernia repair in patients with primary ventral hernias.

Material And Methods: The multicenter, non-randomized, controlled clinical study included 88 patients of both sexes who were operated on using a laparoscopic approach using the IPOM technique for a primary ventral hernia. The duration of observation ranged from 3 to 12 months.

Unlabelled: Currently, there are no standards for examining patients with suspected craniosynostosis. CT of the brain with 3D skull reconstruction is a common approach to diagnose craniosynostosis in many hospitals. This technique in pediatric patients is associated with a high dose of ionizing radiation and prompts searching for other diagnostic methods.

Meningiomas are rare in children and distinguished from the tumors in adults by clinical and biological aspects. Moreover, some histological forms and localizations are even casuistic in adults. There were 178 patients younger 18 years old with brain tumors.

Introduction: Treatment or multilevel hydrocephalus is a complex problem. Neuroendoscopic interventions, make it possible to combine minimal invasiveness with the possibility of fenestration of several cysts during one procedure and thereby eliminate multi-level occlusion. We present our the experience of using a neodymium YAG laser (Nd-YAG laser) as an additional tool to improve the treatment results of patients with non-communicating hydrocephalus.

Unlabelled: Endoscopic surgery for obstructive hydrocephalus in children is an alternative to shunts. Currently, the efficacy of endoscopic third ventriculostomy (ETV) in infants up to one year of age is increasingly discussed among neurosurgeons. To increase the efficacy of ETV, many surgeons raise the question: what factors may affect the efficacy of this procedure in the younger age group?

Objective: To study the factors affecting the efficacy of ETV.

Rationale: Shunt-induced craniosynostosis is one of the late complications of CSF shunting surgery, which affects the patient's condition, clinical picture, and treatment approach.

Objective: to evaluate the prevalence rate and clinical significance of this disease, define the indications for surgery, and choose the optimal surgical approach.

Material And Methods: The study included 59 children with shunt system dysfunction, aged 1 to 14 years, who were treated at the Department in the period from 2014 to 2016.

Context: Multiloculated hydrocephalus remains one of the most challenging neurosurgical problems. In this study, we use frameless navigation during endoscopic interventions to improve the efficiency of operations.

Subjects And Methods: Nine navigated endoscopic procedures were performed in 8 children with various forms of multiloculated hydrocephalus from March 2013 to June 2014.

We present a rare case of orbitocranial penetrating injury by a watercolor brush in a 3-year-old child. Injuries of this localization can affect important orbital structures (eyeball, blood vessels, nerves, muscles) and cause severe intracranial damages. In some cases, diagnosis of these injuries in children may be difficult due to the lack of marked clinical manifestations.

Introduction: The use of the endoscopic technique largely improves treatment outcomes in patients with multilocular hydrocephalus. However, impaired anatomy and the lack of usual landmarks often cause problems in planning and intraoperative identification of changed structures. The use of frameless navigation during endoscopic interventions can significantly facilitate surgeon tasks and increases the efficacy of surgery.

It was the purpose of this search to announce that elaborating an optimal tactics for patients with coronary heart disease (CHD), complicated with ischemic mitral regurgitation (IMR). There were operated 85 patients with CHD and IMR in the course of 2006-2008. Previously all patients were separated on 3 groups in dependence of severity of IMR, character of damage of coronary race and changing of left ventricle.

An experience with treatment of diffuse purulent peritonitis for acute diseases of organs of the abdominal cavity is described. An analysis of examinations and treatment of 130 patients with diffuse purulent peritonitis was made in groups of patients where the method of laparostomy with programmed sanitations of the abdominal cavity and the methods of laparoscopy and traditional treatment were used. The method of laparostomy with programmed sanitations of the abdominal cavity in patients with toxic and terminal phases of diffuse purulent peritonitis is an effective method of treatment resulting in less frequency of postoperative complications and lethality of patients with this pathology.

Treatment of 92 patients aged from 18 to 69 years with abscesses and phlegmons of soft tissues included programmed irrigation and drainage. Apparatuses with two-level programs were used. It was shown that programmed irrigation and drainage allowed microbial dissemination by wash liquid to be decreased to 10 colony-forming units per 1 ml during 3 days.

The authors described a procedure of the instrumental neutron activation analysis of biomedical material on reactor and 14 MeV neutrons for determination of the platinum, silicon, chlorine, phosphorus, sodium and zinc content using the anticompton system of detection together with a programmed analyser and an automatic sample changer. The procedure was tested on rat small intestinal samples within the interval of 10 min-30 days after a single i. v.

The authors studied the effect of the tranquilizer phenibut on sleep disturbances in alcoholics at the initial period following alcohol withdrawal. Sleep was registered polygraphically during 2 nights in 12 patients taking the drug and in 10 control patients. The drug did not affect the latent period of falling asleep, increasing, however, the duration of two major phases of sleep and reducing the duration of the drowsiness stage.

The authors studied the effect of phenazepam, a benzodiazepine derivative, on sleep disorders in alcoholic patients at the first period following alcohol intake discontinuation. Polygraphic registration of the sleep pattern was performed for two nights in 18 patients, receiving the drug and in ten patients of the control group. The drug use was associated with the following events: the latent period of falling asleep diminished, the total duration of sleep increased, the duration of consciousness "inside the sleep" decreased.
