An important task of pharmacology is to find effective agents to improve retinal microcirculation and resistance to ischemia. The purpose of the study is to pharmacologically evaluate the retinoprotective effect of 2-ethyl-3-hydroxy-6-methylpyridine nicotinate in a rat model of retinal ischemia-reperfusion. A retinal ischemia-reperfusion model was used, in which an increase in intraocular pressure (IOP) to 110 mmHg was carried out within 30 min.

Intragastric methionine (3 g/kg daily for 7 days) elevates homocysteine concentration and increases the endothelial dysfunction coefficient. This protocol of methionine treatment is an adequate model of hyperhomocysteine-induced endothelial dysfunction and can be used for studies of the endothelio- and cardioprotective effects of drugs.

L-arginine (200 mg/kg), vitamin B(6) (2 mg/kg), and folic acid (0.2 mg/kg) exert a protective effect on endothelial function in L-NAME-induced NO deficiency in male and pregnant female Wistar rats. Combined administration of these agents effectively prevented the development of endothelial dysfunction and L-NAME-induced preeclampsia.

The ADMA-like pre-eclampsia in pregnant rats was modeled by daily introduction of L-NAME in a dose of 25 mg/kg for 7 days. L-arginine (200 mg/kg) prevented the development of arterial hypertension and a decrease in placentary microcirculation and microalbuminuria. The possibility of using L-arginine for the prevention of competitive eNOS inhibition by ADMA is discussed.

Experimental NO deficiency induced by L-NAME injection led to the development of arterial hypertension, endothelial dysfunction, and cardiomyocyte hypertrophy and reduced blood content of nitrates and nitrites. Impaza, NO donors, activators of NO-synthase, antioxidants, and antihypertensive preparations produced endothelium-protective effect of different degree.

We studied the effects of antioxidants resveratrol and pQ510 on physiological parameters and the state of endothelial NO-synthase as a marker of the regulatory function of the endothelium in the aorta of rats with modeled arterial hypertension. The antioxidants promoted recovery of stable NO metabolites in rat serum and maintained expression of endothelial NO-synthase at a normal level. These effects were confirmed by correction of blood pressure and endothelium-dependent vascular dilation assessed by endothelial dysfunction coefficient.

The conditions of O. felineus circulations in the area of minor hydraulic constructions of Graĭvoron on the Vorskla River where a tense Ukrainian focus of opisthorchiasis existed (the village of Dobryanskoye, Sumy Province) were followed up for a 8-year period (since 1982). Hydraulic construction near the Vorskla River resulted in a significant violation of the ecological balance (macrocyte occupation of the river bed and the bay terrace, bog-making, dystrophic changes of the low-land bodies of water).

Workers of a rubber plant with allergic pathology showed marked changes of the nervous system manifested in vegetovascular dystonia mainly of the hypertensive type and in hypertensive disease (grades I-II). These changes developed often against the background of urticaria, Quincke edema, allergic rhinitis. Prophylactic measures are proposed on the reduction of allergic morbidity and nervous system diseases in workers of the rubber industry.

It appears possible to apply electric action not only for medical purposes, but also in stimulating the locomotor apparatus of healthy people. To achieve an effective influence on the neuro-muscular structure of the locomotor apparatus in man all-purpose multichannel on the neuro-muscular structure of the locomotor apparatus in man an all-purpose multichannel programmed electric stimulator with an autonomously pre-set program that permits it to form an arbitrary structure of stimulation signals, capable of being reconstructed in the course of the action, is proposed. This makes it possible to more flexibly and accurately take account of a naturally coordinated interaction of the muscles.
