Characterization, In Vitro Biological Activity and In Vivo Cardioprotective Properties of (L.:Fr.) Quél. Heteropolysaccharides in a Rat Model of Metabolic Syndrome.

The present study aimed to examine the biological activity and cardioprotective potential of heteropolysaccharides (TVH) in a rat model of metabolic syndrome (MetS). This study included 40 rats divided into 5 groups: CTRL-healthy non-treated rats; MetS-non-treated rats; and H-TV, M-TV and L-TV-rats with MetS treated with either 300, 200 or 100 mg/kg TVH per os for 4 weeks. After finishing the treatment, we conducted an oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT), hemodynamic measurements and the animals were sacrificed, hearts isolated and subjected to the Langendorff technique.

Lady's Bedstraw as a Powerful Antioxidant for Attenuation of Doxorubicin-Induced Cardiotoxicity.

This study aimed to examine the effects of a 14-day treatment with lady's bedstraw methanol extract on doxorubicin-induced cardiotoxicity through functional, biochemical and histological examinations. We used 24 male rats divided into the following groups: control (CTRL), doxorubicin (DOX), and DOX + GVE ( extract). GVE was administered orally at a dose of 50 mg/kg per day for 14 days, while a single dose of doxorubicin was injected into the DOX groups.

Ultrasonication for production of nanoliposomes with encapsulated soy protein concentrate hydrolysate: Process optimization, vesicle characteristics and digestion.

This study presents the state-of-art research about the assembly of soy proteins in nanocarriers, liposomes, and its design includes different physicochemical strategies and approaches: two-step enzymatic hydrolysis of soy concentrate, hydrolysate encapsulation by using phospholipids and cholesterol, and application of ultrasonication. Achieved results revealed that ultrasonication, together with cholesterol addition into phospholipid layers, improved the stability of nanoliposomes, and a maximum value of 60.5 % was obtained.

Immortelle essential oil-based ointment improves wound healing in a diabetic rat model.

The phytochemical analysis of the investigated Immortelle essential oil revealed the presence of monoterpenes and sesquiterpenes as major components that might be efficient as a wound healing potential agent. The present study aimed to develop an ointment based on the Immortelle essential oil and investigate its wound healing effects on excision wounds in diabetic rats. The topical formulated Immortelle ointment was subjected to pharmaco-technical characterization.

Endovascular treatment of the subclavian artery aneurysm in high-risk patient - a single-center experience.

We present our first experience with endovascular treatment of 6 subclavian artery aneurysms (SAA) occurring in five male and one female patient. All patients, in our studies, according to ASA classification were high risk for open repair of SAA. The etiology of the all aneurysms was atherosclerosis degeneration of the artery.
