Providers' Beliefs and Values: Understanding Their Approach to Gender-Affirming Care.

Objectives: This qualitative study explored the beliefs and values influencing healthcare providers' delivery of gender-affirming care (GAC) to transgender and gender-diverse (TGD) youth amidst current social and political dynamics.

Methods: The study PI conducted 43 semi-structured interviews with providers across states with varying GAC legislation. Responses from 41 providers were analyzed in this paper.

The Performance of Preloaded Bolts in Seismically Prequalified Steel Joints in a Fire Scenario.

Seismically pre-qualified beam-to-column joints guarantee large ductility in seismic scenarios thanks to the effectiveness of the design rules and technological requirements that are devoted to avoiding the failure of brittle components (i.e., bolts and welds).

Numerical Simulations to Predict the Seismic Performance of a 2-Story Steel Moment-Resisting Frame.

The seismic response of steel moment resisting frames (MRFs) is influenced by the behavior of joints. Within the ongoing research project "FUTURE"(Full-scale experimental validation of steel moment frame with EU qualified joints and energy efficient claddings under Near fault seismic scenarios), shake table tests will be carried out on a two-story one bay MRF equipped with different types of prequalified beam-to-column joints. In order to design the experimental campaign, preliminary numerical simulations have been carried out to predict the seismic performance of the experimental mock-up in terms of distribution of damage, transient and residual interstory drifts.

Effect of recombinant insulin-like growth factor-1 treatment on short-term linear growth in a child with Majewski osteodysplastic primordial dwarfism type II and hepatic insufficiency.

We report the case of a boy affected by severe intrauterine and postnatal growth retardation, microcephaly, facial dysmorphisms and postnecrotic cirrhosis, diagnosed at birth as having Seckel syndrome, and subsequently confirmed as Majewski osteodysplastic primordial dwarfism type II (MOPD II) on the basis of clinical and radiological features of skeletal dysplasia. At our observation (6 years 7 months) he presented height -10.3 standard deviation score (SDS), weight -22.

Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease in prepubertal children born small for gestational age: influence of rapid weight catch-up growth.

Background/aims: We studied the association of low birth weight with ultrasound-assessed nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) to test the hypothesis that fetal growth retardation followed by a rapid weight catch-up growth might be an additional factor responsible for liver steatosis via insulin resistance (IR) and/or intra-abdominal fat.

Methods: We enrolled 23 children born small for gestational age (SGA) with a rapid catch-up growth within the first 6-12 months, and 24 appropriate for gestational age (AGA) children as controls. All children underwent anthropometric, body composition measurements and evaluation of liver function tests, lipid profile, plasma glucose and insulin levels.

Safety for patients with celiac disease of baked goods made of wheat flour hydrolyzed during food processing.

Background & Aims: Celiac disease (CD) is characterized by an inflammatory response to wheat gluten, rye, and barley proteins. Fermentation of wheat flour with sourdough lactobacilli and fungal proteases decreases the concentration of gluten. We evaluated the safety of daily administration of baked goods made from this hydrolyzed form of wheat flour to patients with CD.

A simple subspace approach for speech denoising.

For pathological voices, hoarseness is mainly due to airflow turbulence in the vocal tract and is often referred to as noise. This paper focuses on the enhancement of speech signals that are supposedly degraded by additive white noise. Speech enhancement is performed in the time-domain, by means of a fast and reliable subspace approach.

Exercise training improves diastolic perfusion time in patients with coronary artery disease.

Exercise training elicits an improvement in work capacity and in left-ventricular function in patients with coronary artery disease. An improvement in myocardial oxygen supply accounts for these effects. The aim of this study was to test the hypothesis that exercise training could favorably influence diastolic perfusion time, a major determinant of subendocardial perfusion.
