Outcomes of Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction in Patients with Associated Anterolateral Ligament Injury.

 To evaluate if there is a significant difference in the outcomes of isolated anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction in patients with or without associated anterolateral ligament (ALL) injury.  We conducted a retrospective cross-sectional study through the analysis of medical records and the application of the questionnaires of the Lysholm Knee Scoring Scale and the International Knee Documentation Committee (IKDC) Subjective Knee Form to patients undergoing isolated ACL reconstruction.  The 52 participants included were divided into two groups: 19 with associated ALL injury and 33 with no associated ALL injury.

Transtibial Femoral Tunnel Technique in ACL Reconstruction and Osteoarthritis Incidence.

ANCA-negative EGPA: only eosinophils without vasculitis? Insights from anti-T2 biologics.

The pathogenic role of p-ANCA in eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis (EGPA) is a long-standing matter of debate. In this work, we report our real-life experience with EGPA patients, treated with biologics targeting type 2 (T2)-eosinophilic inflammation (Mepolizumab, Benralizumab, Dupilumab). Interestingly, we observed EGPA extrarespiratory relapses only in p-ANCA-positive patients (2/5 cutaneous vasculitis, 3/5 constitutional symptoms), with new rise of p-ANCA and normal eosinophil blood count.

Extraarticular infection 9 years after anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction. Case report.

Extraarticular infection after anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLr) is a rare condition with challenging diagnosis because the symptoms are milder and more insidious when compared to septic arthritis. When late (>2 months after surgery), it tends to be associated with osteomyelitis, requiring more extensive surgical debridement and hardware removal. We report a case of extraarticular infection after ACLr, in the acute phase affecting the tibial site and 9 years after index surgery affecting around the femur site.

Methods: Using data regarding adults from the MYONET registry, a cohort of DM patients with anti-Mi2/-TIF1γ/-NXP2/-SAE/-MDA5 autoantibodies, and a cohort of ASyS patients with anti-tRNA synthetase autoantibodies (anti-Jo1/-PL7/-PL12/-OJ/-EJ/-Zo/-KS) were identified. Patients with DM sine dermatitis or with discordant dual autoantibody specificities were excluded.

We investigated the relationship between oxidative stress and inflammatory myopathies. We searched in the current literature the role of mitochondria and respiratory chain defects as sources of oxidative stress and reactive oxygen species production that led to muscle weakness and fatigue. Different molecules and pathways contribute to redox milieu, reactive oxygen species generation, accumulation of misfolded and carbonylated proteins that lose their ability to fulfil cellular activities.

Assessing the Impact of Conversational Artificial Intelligence in the Treatment of Stress and Anxiety in Aging Adults: Randomized Controlled Trial.

Background: While mental health applications are increasingly becoming available for large populations of users, there is a lack of controlled trials on the impacts of such applications. Artificial intelligence (AI)-empowered agents have been evaluated when assisting adults with cognitive impairments; however, few applications are available for aging adults who are still actively working. These adults often have high stress levels related to changes in their work places, and related symptoms eventually affect their quality of life.

Hymenoptera Venom Allergy and Anaphylaxis.

Hymenoptera stings can induce allergic and occasionally fatal reactions, and are responsible for significant morbidity and deterioration in health-related quality of life. The diagnostic work-up must consider the medical history of patients, in the context of venom allergy epidemiology and Hymenoptera taxonomy, and the clinical manifestations of the reactions, to channel the available in vivo and in vitro tests towards the most accurate diagnosis and the consequent appropriate management, also considering the risk profile of the patients on a precision-medicine approach. All these aspects are covered by this work that aims at providing an up-to-date review to increase the awareness of this topic among interested stakeholders, like healthcare professionals and political decision makers, who can contribute to the proper immediate and long-term management of venom allergy and anaphylaxis.
