Background: Although the prognosis of patients with Takotsubo syndrome (TTS) is relatively favorable, serious complications may occur. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between blood parameters and the occurrence of in-hospital complications.

Methods: Clinical charts of 51 patients with TTS were retrospectively evaluated, and data regarding blood parameters assessed during the first 24 hours of hospitalization were studied.

Spontaneous coronary artery dissection is often underdiagnosed. It accounts for a certain amount of acute coronary syndromes. Intravascular imaging, either intravascular ultrasound or optical coherence tomography, represents a relevant ally for interventional cardiologist.

Background: Conflicting results have been described in the scientific literature regarding the relationship between electrocardiographic parameters and complications in patients with Takotsubo syndrome (TTS). Aim of the present study was to investigate whether there is an association between markers of ventricular repolarization and major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) during hospitalisation.

Methods: A retrospective chart review was conducted on a sample of patients with diagnosis of TTS, based on the fulfilment of the revised Mayo Clinic criteria.

A new ferrocenyl oxazaphospholidine oxide 3 was synthesized together with its P-epimer 2 in the reaction of ferrocene lithium with phosphoramidite chloride 1. 3 was successfully derivatized into planar chiral 1,2-ferrocenes, including phosphine ligands, via highly diastereoselective ortho-lithiation and subsequent functionalization; these compounds display opposite planar chirality to those obtained from 2. Some of these 1,2-ferrocenes were further lithiated, allowing for the introduction of a free phosphine group at the oxazaphospholidine ring.

[reaction: see text] Ortho-lithiation of (2R,4S,5R)-3,4-dimethyl-2-ferrocenyl-5-phenyl[1,3,2]oxazaphospholidine 2-oxide 2 was carried out with diastereoselectivity of >99%, affording a new and efficient way for introducing planar chirality into the ferrocene backbone. Various electrophiles were used to quench the lithiated species, showing the wide applicability of the new ortho-directing group and its potential to generate ligands for use in asymmetric catalysis.

A Rh(III) complex generated in situ from [Cp*RhCl2]2 and (1R,2R)-N-(p-toluenesulfonyl)-1,2-cyclohexanediamine (TsCYDN) serves as a remarkably effective, robust catalyst for the asymmetric transfer hydrogenation of aromatic ketones by HCOONa in water in air, affording alcohols in up to 99% ee.
