Eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis associated with abducens nerve palsy.

We present the case of a 61-year-old man who reported diplopia due to a right abducens nerve palsy. The patient complained of fever every night (37.5° C), paresthesia of the second and third hand fingers, and he showed an increased C-reactive protein, high erythrocyte sedimentation rate, and high eosinophilia.

Recombinant Human Nerve Growth Factor (Cenegermin)-Driven Corneal Wound Healing Process: An Evidence-Based Analysis.

To evaluate anterior segment optical coherence tomography (AS-OCT) to detect the wound healing process as per monitoring the effectiveness of cenegermin to treat moderate to severe neurotrophic keratoplasty. A retrospective chart review was realized to identify patients treated with cenegermin at the Clinica Oculistica, University of Genoa, Italy. All patients underwent careful examinations at baseline and follow-up visits.

Trabeculectomy versus Xen gel implant for the treatment of open-angle glaucoma: a 3-year retrospective analysis.

Objective: To compare the two surgical techniques in terms of efficacy, safety, and postoperative management over 36 months of follow-up.

Methods: This retrospective clinical cohort study compared the outcome of trabeculectomy surgery and Xen gel implant in patients having uncontrolled glaucoma. Patients were recruited using the following inclusion criteria: uncontrolled intraocular pressure (IOP) on maximally tolerated medical therapy, healthy conjunctiva freely mobile in the superior sector, open-angle, glaucomatous visual field damage, full follow upfollow-up of at least 36 months.

Blue light filtering ophthalmic lenses: A systematic review.

: Blue blocking (BB) lenses, including spectacles and intraocular lenses, work by attenuating short-wavelength light. BB glasses are being marketed with the aim to reduce eye fatigue symptoms when using digital devices, improve sleep quality and potentially confer protection from retinal phototoxicity. BB intraocular lenses following cataract surgery may be implanted because they are thought to prevent age-related macular degeneration (AMD) progression.

Ophthalmologic evaluation in vitamin-E deficiency: A case report.

A 41-year-old woman has come to our attention complaining of decreased visual acuity and monocular diplopia associated with upper and lower limb hypoesthesia. Malabsorption syndrome with vitamin A and E deficiency developed after a bariatric biliopancreatic diversion. The clinical ophthalmological signs and symptoms improved after oral vitamin supplementation therapy.

Evaluating the Correlation between Alzheimer's Amyloid-β Peptides and Glaucoma in Human Aqueous Humor.

Purpose: Recent studies suggest that glaucoma may share common pathogenic mechanisms with Alzheimer's disease. To test this hypothesis, we investigated the correlation between glaucoma and amyloid-β (Aβ) concentration in human samples of aqueous humor (AH).

Methods: Eighty-one candidates for cataract or glaucoma surgery were consecutively enrolled, with a median age of 77 years; of these, 32 subjects were affected by glaucoma and 49 were controls.

Bilateral morphometric analysis of corneal sub-basal nerve plexus in patients undergoing unilateral cataract surgery: a preliminary in vivo confocal microscopy study.

Aims: To evaluate bilateral morphometric changes of corneal sub-basal nerve plexus (CSNP) occurring after unilateral cataract surgery by in vivo confocal microscopy (IVCM) images analysed with automated software.

Methods: IVCM was performed before (V0) and 1 month after surgery (V1) in both operated eyes (OEs) and unoperated eyes (UEs) of 30 patients. Thirty age and sex-matched subjects acted as controls.
