Symptoms of anxiety and depression in patients with persistent asthma: a cross-sectional analysis of the INSPIRERS studies.

Objectives: Anxiety and depression are relevant comorbidities in asthma, but, in Portugal and Spain, data on this topic are scarce. We assessed, in patients with asthma, the frequency of anxiety and depression using the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS) and the European Quality of Life Five Dimension Questionnaire (EQ-5D); the level of agreement between these questionnaires, and the factors associated with these symptoms.

Methods: This is a secondary analysis of the INSPIRERS studies.

Physiological changes in green and red cherry tomatoes after photocatalytic ethylene degradation using continuous air flux.

In this work photocatalytic ethylene degradation (TiO-UV) was applied in green cherry tomatoes with the aim to control biochemical and physiological changes during ripening. Photocatalytic process was performed at 18 °C  ±  2 °C and 85% HR for 10 days using continuous air flux. Ethylene, O and CO concentration from cherry tomatoes under TiO-UV and control (c) fruits, were measured by GC-MS for 10 days.

Phytochemical Composition, Antioxidant Activity, and the Effect of the Aqueous Extract of Coffee ( L.) Bean Residual Press Cake on the Skin Wound Healing.

The world coffee consumption has been growing for its appreciated taste and its beneficial effects on health. The residual biomass of coffee, originated in the food industry after oil extraction from coffee beans, called coffee beans residual press cake, has attracted interest as a source of compounds with antioxidant activity. This study investigated the chemical composition of aqueous extracts of coffee beans residual press cake (AE), their antioxidant activity, and the effect of topical application on the skin wound healing, in animal model, of hydrogels containing the AE, chlorogenic acid (CGA), allantoin (positive control), and carbopol (negative control).
