Background: In patients with hemophilia, radionuclide synoviorthesis, or the intra-articular injection of a radionuclide to decrease the synovial hypertrophy tissue, aims to decrease or avoid hemarthrosis.
Aim: To evaluate the effectiveness of radionuclide synoviorthesis in hemophilia.
Material And Methods: Observational retrospective study of the evolution of 107 male patients aged 3 to 54 years who were subjected to radionuclide synoviorthesis between 2007 and 2015.
Heteropolyacids (HPA) with Keggin structures, such as HPMoO (HPMo), have been described as efficient catalysts in trans/esterification reactions due to their tolerance to water and free fatty acids contents, with particularly well-suited characteristics of high proton mobility and stability. The versatile array of HPA is considerably increased when such catalysts are supported onto solid matrices. Unlabelled: The use of intensive chemotherapy has improved survival of children with cancer. However, this is associated to severe and maintained neutropenia, increasing risks of severe infections like bacteremia.
Aim: To update information on microorganisms involved in bloodstream infections in cancer patients and their antimicrobial resistance patterns during the last 3 years in our hospital, comparing it with our previous experience and with other Chilean centres.
Cells of Candida guilliermondii (ATCC 201935) were permeabilised with surfactant treatment (CTAB or Triton X-100) or a freezing-thawing procedure. Treatments were monitored by in situ activities of the key enzymes involved in xylose metabolism, that is, glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD), xylose reductase (XR) and xylitol dehydrogenase (XD). The permeabilising ability of the surfactants was dependent on its concentration and incubation time.
