Therapeutic potential of bioactive peptides against Lactococcus petauri in Nile tilapia.

Lactococcus petauri is an emerging pathogen causing piscine lactococcosis in various aquatic species. This disease has been increasingly reported as a cause of mortality in aquaculture. Due to the indiscriminate use of antimicrobials and to promote viable alternatives for their replacement, bioactive peptides with antimicrobial properties can be explored as tools against bacterial infections.

Molecular detection of Apicomplexan hemoparasites in anurans from Brazil.

Amphibians are among the most threatened vertebrate groups in the world, and the main causes include climate change, habitat destruction, and emerging diseases. Herein, we investigated the occurrence and characterized molecularly Apicomplexa in anurans from southeastern Brazil. Forty individuals from seven anuran species were sampled in São Paulo state.
