Introduction: In-hospital falls represent significant health and economic concerns, but previous studies regarding the economic cost of falls do not account for other cofounders (comorbidities and clinical aspects) in this cost evaluation.
Aim: The aim of this study is to analyse the cost of in-hospital falls comparing those who had falls to nonfalls patients while accounting for several risk factors associated with falls.
Methods: Data were collected from January 2020 to December 2022, in a private hospital in Brazil.
Purpose: To evaluate the impact of depressive symptoms on the subjective perception of quality of life in patients with drug-resistant epilepsy (DRE) after surgical treatment for seizures. Methods: A case-control study with DRE patients who received surgical treatment (n=19) and matched non-operated patients (n=23). We assessed the quality of life using the Subjective Handicap of Epilepsy (SHE) scale, alongside measuring depressive symptoms using the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI).

Objective: To evaluate the feasibility of telemedicine for patients with parkinsonism in a developing country.
Introduction: Parkinsonism-hyperpyrexia syndrome (PHS) is a rare and potentially fatal complication of Parkinson disease (PD) characterized by a neuroleptic malignant-like syndrome due to abrupt discontinuation of antiparkinsonian medications.
Case Report: A 79-year-old woman with late-stage PD presented at the hospital with neuropsychiatric and uncontrolled parkinsonian motor symptoms. Soon after the abrupt discontinuation of amantadine, the patient suddenly presented with global rigidity, global unresponsiveness, diaphoresis, tachycardia, recurrent hyperpyrexia, and a mildly elevated creatine kinase, which lead to the diagnosis of PHS.
This study aims to evaluate the prevalence, distribution and clinical profile of neurological diseases and syndromes from a neurology outpatient clinic in the city of Rio de Janeiro. This is a quantitative, cross-sectional study. 180 medical records of firsttime visits conducted through 18 months were analyzed.
