In patient-specific biomechanical modeling, the process of image-to-mesh-material mapping is important, and various strategies have been explored for assigning the number of groups of unique material properties to the mesh. This study aims to cross-compare different grouping strategies to identify the minimum number of unique groups necessary for accurately calculating the fracture load of vertebral bones. We analyzed 12 vertebral specimens by experimentally determining the biomechanical fracture load and acquiring corresponding CT scans.

Objective: Assessing the diagnostic value of dynamic contrast-enhanced ultrasound (DCEUS) for the discrimination of different malignant liver lesions.
Methods: 148 malignant focal liver lesions were assessed prospectively with DCEUS (hepatocellular carcinoma = HCC; cholangiocellular carcinoma = CCC; pancreatic adenocarcinoma = PCA; breast cancer = BC; colorectal cancer = CRC; melanoma = MM).
Scaphoid fractures are the most common fractures of the carpal bones, corresponding to 60%. Of these, 10% progress to nonunion; moreover, 3% can present necrosis of the proximal pole. There are various methods of treatment using vascularized and non-vascularized bone grafts.
