Article Synopsis
  • * In a phase 2b trial (CARE), the effects of cenerimod dosages (2mg and 4mg) were evaluated in SLE patients, focusing on gene expression related to interferon and plasma cells after 6 months of treatment.
  • * Results indicated that the 4mg dosage of cenerimod significantly decreased interferon-associated biomarkers, especially in patients with high baseline interferon levels, supporting its selection for

A series of 2-amino-[1,8]-naphthyridine-3-carboxamides (ANCs) with potent inhibition of bacterial NAD(+)-dependent DNA ligases (LigAs) evolved from a 2,4-diaminopteridine derivative discovered by HTS. The design was guided by several highly resolved X-ray structures of our inhibitors in complex with either Streptococcus pneumoniae or Escherichia coli LigA. The structure-activity-relationship based on the ANC scaffold is discussed.

The renin-angiotensin system is a well-known regulator of blood pressure and plays an important role in the pathogenesis of cardiovascular disease and renal damage. Genetic factors, including single nucleotide polymorphisms and sex, are increasingly recognized as potential risk factors for the development of cardiovascular disease. Double transgenic rats (dTGRs), harboring human renin and angiotensinogen genes, were used in this study to investigate potential sex differences influencing renal function and renal gene expression.
