Objectives: To describe evolving demographic trends and early outcomes in patients undergoing triple-valve surgery in the UK between 2000 and 2019.

Methods: We planned a retrospective analysis of national registry data including patients undergoing triple-valve surgery for all aetiologies of disease. We excluded patients in a critical preoperative state and those with missing admission dates.

Pulmonary arterial sarcomas (PAS) are rare aggressive tumours occurring mainly in the pulmonary trunk. We report a case of PAS involving the pulmonary trunk wall and valve, with uniform wall thickening which represents an atypical imaging manifestation of this tumour. A 63-year-old male presented with vague respiratory symptoms with rapid progression.

Background: The role of aprotinin in modern cardiac surgery is not well defined. While licensed for use in isolated coronary artery bypass grafting it is more commonly used for cases deemed to be at an increased risk of bleeding. The relative efficacy, and safety profile, of aprotinin as compared to other antifibrinolytics in these high-risk cases is uncertain.
