Clinical staging (CS) and tumor burden (TB) play a significant role in FL prognosis and direct its up-front therapy. The aim of this study is to report prognostic factors and clinical outcomes in newly-diagnosed FL patients stratified according to CS and TB in early-stage (ES) disease, advanced-stage with low tumor burden (AS-LTB) and advanced-stage with high tumor burden (AS-HTB). Two hundred fourteen patients with FL grades 1-3A had baseline clinical characteristics and outcomes assessed.

Hyalinizing clear cell carcinoma (HCCC) is a rare malignant neoplasm that commonly arises in the palate, whose occurrence in other intraoral sites is extremely uncommon. We present a case of a 74 years old afro-descendant female presenting an asymptomatic swelling in the lingual region of teeth 32, 33 and 34, with four months of Evolution, promoting an area of bone resorption with imprecise margins. Incisional biopsy revealed proliferative nests of clear cells within a hyalinized fibrous connective tissue.

Follicular lymphoma (FL) is the most common indolent lymphoma, accounting for 20%-25% of all non-Hodgkin's lymphomas (NHLs). It is a malignancy with variable biologic presentation and heterogeneous clinical outcomes. Several models incorporating clinical laboratory variables and molecular biomarkers are able to predict its prognosis, allowing to stratify patients into different risk groups.

This study aims to analyze the pressure on the Brazilian health system from the additional demand created by COVID-19. The authors performed a series of simulations to estimate the demand for hospital beds (health micro-regions) as well as to ICU beds, and mechanical ventilators (health macro-regions) under different scenarios of intensity (infection rates equivalent to 0.01, 0.

Background: This work presents a comparison and selection of different machine learning classification techniques applied in the identification of objects using data collected by an instrumented glove during a grasp process. The selected classifiers techniques can be applied to e-rehabilitation and e-training exercises for different pathologies, as in aphasic patients.

Methods: The adopted method uses the data from a commercial instrumented glove.

This study aimed to evaluate ovarian follicular dynamics in goats submitted to synchronization of estrus and supplemented with diets that differed in the metabolizable energy source and amount of energy. The experiment was carried out using 42 does allocated into three treatments, fed for 9 days with a ration providing 1.0 times maintenance containing maize (1 MM, n = 14) or without maize (1 M, n = 14) or a ration providing 1.

Clinical investigations have demonstrated the effectiveness of phototherapy on the muscle activity. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of low-level laser therapy (LLLT) on the tibialis anterior muscle of regular physical activity practitioners by electromyographic, biomechanical, and biochemical (lactate) analysis. Double-blind controlled clinical trials were conducted with 12 healthy females, regular physical activity practitioners, between 18 and 30 years.

Background: Coactivation may be both desirable (injury prevention) or undesirable (strength measurement). In this context, different styles of muscle strength stimulus have being investigated. In this study we evaluated the effects of verbal and visual stimulation on rectus femoris and biceps femoris muscles contraction during isometric and concentric.

Background: The purpose of this study was to compare the postoperative inflammatory response and severity of pain between single-incision laparoscopic surgery (SILS) cholecystectomy and conventional laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC).

Methods: Two groups of 20 patients were prospectively randomized to either conventional LC or SILS cholecystectomy. Serum interleukin-6 (IL-6) levels were assayed before surgery, at 4-6 h, and at 18-24 h after the procedure.

Background: We aimed to investigate the effect of rest interval, between successive contractions, on muscular fatigue.

Methods: Eighteen subjects performed elbow flexion and extension (30 repetitions) on an isokinetic dynamometer with 80º of range of motion. The flexion velocity was 120º/s, while for elbow extension we used 5 different velocities (30, 75, 120, 240, 360º/s), producing 5 different rest intervals (2.
