 The present study compares the analgesic efficacy of two techniques to perform non-surgical reduction: fracture hematoma block and radial nerve supracondylar block.  Forty patients with fractures of the distal third of the radius, who required reduction, were selected in a quasi-randomized clinical trial to receive one of the anesthetic techniques. All patients signed the informed consent form, except for those who did not wish to participate in the study, had neurological injury, had contraindication to the procedure in the emergency room, or with contraindication to the use of lidocaine.

A simple and efficient Knoevenagel procedure for the synthesis of 2-arylidene indan-1,3-diones is herein reported. These compounds were prepared via ZrOCl2·8H2O catalyzed reactions of indan-1,3-dione with several aromatic aldehydes and using water as the solvent. The 2-arylidene indan-1,3-diones were obtained with 53%-95% yield within 10-45 min.

The pericytic (perivascular myoid cell) family of tumors is a distinctive group of mesenchymal neoplasms encountered in superficial sites and only rarely seen in viscera. The pericytic family subtends a spectrum of lesions, namely, glomus tumors and variants; myopericytoma, including myofibroma; and angioleiomyoma.
