Background: Pre-travel consultation and chemoprophylaxis measures for malaria are a key component in the prevention of imported malaria in travelers. In this study we report a predictive tool for assessing personalized malaria risk in travelers based on the analysis of electronic medical records from travel consultations. The tool aims to guide physicians in the recommendation of appropriate prophylaxis prior to their trip.

Reduction of 1,2-closo-C2B10H12 followed by treatment with [RuCl2(p-cymene)]2(p-cymene = C6H4MeiPr-1,4) affords the 13-vertex ruthenacarborane 4-(p-cymene)-4,1,6-closo-RuC2B10H12, characterised both spectroscopically and, in two crystalline forms, crystallographically. Although asymmetric in the solid state, having a docosahedral cage architecture with cage C atoms at vertices 1 and 6, this species clearly has Cs symmetry on the NMR timescale at room temperature. However, the fluctional process in operation can be arrested at low temperature, and an activation energy of 43.

In hexaaquanickel bis(2,6-dioxo-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyrimidine-4-carboxylate) dihydrate, [Ni(H(2)O)(6)](C(5)H(3)N(2)O(4))(2).2H(2)O, the nickel cation is coordinated by six aqua ligands and only associated with the two orotate ions through hydrogen bonds. The structure is isotypic with the magnesium and zinc analogues.
