Southeast Asian Ovalocytosis results from a heterozygous deletion of 9 amino acids in the erythrocyte anion exchange protein AE1 (band 3). The report of the first successful birth of an individual homozygous for this mutation showed an association with severe dyserythropoietic anemia. Imaging of the proband's erythrocytes revealed the presence of band 3 at their surface, a reduction in Wr(b) antigen expression, and increases in glycophorin C, CD44, and CD147 immunoreactivity.

Background And Objectives: Anxiety disorders comprise the most common category of mental illness among US young adults. Art making might be one method to help reduce anxiety, but the few studies investigating this have used only subjective measures of anxiety.
Design: This study employed both subjective (self-reported state anxiety from the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory) and objective (heart rate variability) measures to assess whether 30-minute periods of art making reduced anxiety in 47 first-year college students prior to their final examinations.
Renal scarring is known to be associated with hypertension. The primary objective of this study was to investigate the prevalence of renal scarring in children referred to our clinic with hypertension. The secondary objective was to compare renal ultrasound (US) examination with dimercaptosuccinic acid (DMSA) renal scan in diagnosing renal scars in these patients.
