Perception systems for assisted driving and autonomy enable the identification and classification of objects through a concentration of sensors installed in vehicles, including Radio Detection and Ranging (RADAR), camera, Light Detection and Ranging (LIDAR), ultrasound, and HD maps. These sensors ensure a reliable and robust navigation system. Radar, in particular, operates with electromagnetic waves and remains effective under a variety of weather conditions.

Path planning techniques are of major importance for the motion of autonomous systems. In addition, the chosen path, safety, and computational burden are essential for ensuring the successful application of such strategies in the presence of obstacles. In this context, this work introduces a modified potential field method that is capable of providing obstacle avoidance, as well as eliminating local minima problems and oscillations in the influence threshold of repulsive fields.

Introduction: A lack of coordination between emergency medical services (EMS), emergency departments (ED) and systemwide management has contributed to extended ambulance at-hospital times at local EDs. In an effort to improve communication within the local EMS system, the Baltimore City Fire Department (BCFD) placed a medical duty officer (MDO) in the fire communications bureau. It was hypothesized that any real-time intervention suggested by the MDO would be manifested in a decrease in the EMS at-hospital time.

Background: The significance of micrometastatic disease in the sentinel lymph nodes (SLN) of patients with invasive breast cancer has been questioned. The objective of our study was to review the impact of micrometastatic carcinoma detected by SLN biopsy.

Study Design: Between January 1997 and May 2004, 2,408 patients with invasive breast cancer and an SLN with micrometastatic (N0[i+], N1mi) or no metastatic (N0[i-]) disease were identified through our breast database.
