A three-dimensional (3D) tissue culture model was developed that may serve to grow a 3D construct that not only transplants into defective periodontal sites, but also allows to examine the effect of mechanical load in vitro. Transforming growth factor beta1 (TGF-beta1) has been shown to stimulate bone healing in several animal models and may influence bone response directly after implant installation.
