Article Synopsis
  • The meta-analysis investigates the effects of varicocele repair on semen parameters in infertile males, combining data from diverse studies without language restrictions.
  • A total of 351 studies were analyzed, revealing significant improvements in several semen parameters post-repair, including semen volume, sperm concentration, total sperm count, motility, and morphology, while sperm vitality showed no improvement.
  • This research is the largest of its kind and highlights the benefits of varicocele repair for male infertility, contributing valuable insights for clinical practice.

Chemical adsorption of non-metal atoms may lead to the emergence of novel features in two-dimensional (2D) materials. In this work, the electronic and magnetic properties of graphene-like XC (X = Si and Ge) monolayers with adsorbed H, O, and F atoms are investigated using spin-polarized first-principles calculations. Deeply negative adsorption energies suggest strong chemical adsorption on XC monolayers.

In this work, the structural, electronic, and magnetic properties of arsenene monolayer doped with germanium (Ge) and nitrogen (N) atoms are investigated using density functional theory calculations. Pristine monolayer is dynamically stable and it possesses a wide indirect band gap. Ge doping induces magnetic semiconductor (MS) nature generated by the semiconductor behavior in both spin channels with significant spin asymmetry around the Fermi level.

Surgical sperm retrieval (SSR) is currently one of the most common procedures in in vitro fertilization (IVF). However, a gap between the guidelines and routine clinical practice regarding antibiotic use in SSR, which might lead to antibiotic resistance, is a challenging problem worldwide. A cross-sectional survey was conducted from May 1, 2021, to July 15, 2021, to investigate antibiotic usage by medical professionals when performing SSR in IVF centers in Vietnam.

A simple and economical process for producing amantadine hydrochloride () on a 250 g scale, an antiviral and anti-Parkinson drug, has been developed. Several methods for the preparation of through intermediate -(1-adamantyl)-acetamide () in four or three steps were reported. These procedures started with adamantine () or 1-bromoadamantane (), acetonitrile, and sulfuric acid by using the Ritter-type reaction to obtain -(1-adamantyl)-acetamide, which was deacetylated to afford 1-amino-adamantane () and then the salt formed with anhydrous HCl gives with the overall yield of being 50-58%.
