Article Synopsis
  • Vietnamese ginseng (Panax vietnamensis) is well-known for its medicinal properties, particularly due to bioactive compounds called ginsenosides found mainly in its rhizome.
  • A recent study identified seven ginsenosides in the leaves of Vietnamese ginseng, notably ginsenoside Rd and pseudoginsenoside RS1, which showed significant inhibition of the enzyme acetylcholinesterase, important for memory function.
  • The research suggests that the leaves could be an alternative source for enhancing memory, providing a basis for further exploration into their potential anti-dementia benefits.
