Widespread use of plastics and mishandling has resulted in severe environmental issues affecting seed germination and seedling growth. This study investigates the effect of polyethylene microplastics (740-4990 nm PEMPs) on lentil (Lens culinaris) seed germination and seedling growth using Biospeckle Optical Coherence Tomography (bOCT), a technique that we successfully demonstrated earlier in visualizing the internal activity of plants. Two novel boron heterocyclic radicals, a 3,4,5-trihydroborinine radical and a 1-methyl-2-dihydro-1-borole radical, were observed in the reaction of boron atom with cyclopentene. These radicals were trapped in solid neon and identified using matrix isolation infrared spectroscopy as well as quantum chemical calculations. The ground-state boron atom selectively inserts into the CC double bond of cyclopentene forming a 3,4,5-trihydroborinine radical (A).

Biomedical applications of graphene in tumor and bacterial treatment have become cutting-edge fields due to its unique physical and chemical properties. However, a mechanistic understanding of the interactions and reactions between graphene-based material and biological systems such as lipid membranes remains elusive, especially at the molecular level.
