Self-powered temperature and humidity sensing platform based on AgS/poly(5-carboxyindole)/hydroxyethyl cellulose nanocomposite.

A self-powered dual-function temperature and humidity sensing platform is constructed based on AgS/poly(5-carboxyindole)/hydroxyethyl cellulose composite material (AgS/P5ICA/HEC). The AgS nanomaterial with reticular porous structure is successfully synthesized via a solvothermal method for use as electrodes in supercapacitors and temperature sensors. Then, a highly sensitive AgS/P5ICA/HEC-based humidity sensor is successfully prepared by drop-coating the surface of AgS material with P5ICA/HEC composite.

Postprandial triglyceride-rich lipoproteins as predictors of carotid atherosclerosis in individuals with normal fasting lipid profiles: a prospective follow-up study.

Background: Carotid atherosclerosis (CAS), a key precipitator of cardiovascular incidents, is linked to postprandial triglyceride-rich lipoproteins (TRL), as reflected by elevated triglycerides (TG) and remnant cholesterol (RC). This study explores the oral fat tolerance test (OFTT) for its predictive value in CAS, using postprandial TRL levels as a diagnostic biomarker.

Methods: A total of 107 volunteers with normal fasting lipid profiles and no CAS at baseline were included.

To address this gap, we propose a hybrid gabor attention convolution and transformer interaction network with hierarchical monitoring mechanism for liver and tumor segmentation, named HyborNet.

A new strategy improving TB diagnosis: stratified urine LAM test based on lymphocyte counts.

Background: Traditional lipoarabinomannan tests have limited sensitivity in HIV-negative individuals. Our aims were to compare chemiluminescence-based LAM (AIMLAM) and other diagnostic modalities in HIV-negative patients and to explore whether lymphocyte counts impact the sensitivity and costs of AIMLAM.

Synergistic catalytic degradation of benzene and toluene on spinel MMnO (MCo, Ni, Cu) catalysts.

Owing to the complexity of multicomponent gases, developing multifunctional catalysts for synergistic removal of benzene and toluene remains challenging. The spinel MMnO (MCo, Ni, or Cu) catalysts were successfully synthesized via the sol-gel method and tested for their catalytic performance for simultaneous degradation of benzene and toluene. The CuMnO sample exhibited the best catalytic performance, the conversion of benzene reached 100 % at 350 °C, and toluene conversion reached 100 % at 250 °C.

Advancements in lignocellulosic biorefining: An integrated approach for achieving complete conversion of unsterilized peanut shells into high-titer ethanol and succinic acid.

The inefficient utilization of carbon sources poses a critical bottleneck in lignocellulose biorefinery processes. This study aimed to devise an integrated approach for efficiently releasing the fermentable sugars from pretreated peanut shells, and subsequently converting the hexoses and pentoses into ethanol and succinic acid (SA), while minimizing carbon dioxide emissions. An enhanced cellulolytic enzyme catalytic system (CECS) has been developed through the optimization of accessory enzymes and additives.

Emotional labor and coping strategies of gynecological nurses in recurrent pregnancy loss care: a qualitative phenomenological study.

Background: Recurrent pregnancy loss (RPL) is marked by multiple pregnancy losses, placing intense emotional and clinical demands on gynecological nurses who often serve as both medical and emotional support for affected patients. While prior research on emotional labor in healthcare underscores the toll of caring for bereaved individuals, few studies have examined the unique, cyclical nature of grief inherent in RPL care.

Methods: A qualitative, phenomenological design was employed to explore the experiences of 12 gynecological nurses working in early pregnancy units.

Objective: In this study, we aimed to explore the relationship between postprandial triglyceride (TG) and postprandial thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) levels and compare the postprandial TSH levels in participants with normal lipid tolerance and reduced lipid tolerance.

Methods: A total of 81 eligible participants were enrolled and given a high-fat meal of 1500 kcal, and blood samples were collected at 2, 4, 6, and 8 hours. Fasting blood glucose, total cholesterol, high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, and fasting and postprandial TG, triiodothyronine (T3), tetraiodothyronine (T4), and TSH levels were tested.

This study presents a thermodynamically driven reconstruction strategy for the synthesis of sea-urchin-like MOF superstructures. Through this method, MOF block crystals are transformed into a pure-phase, sea-urchin-like superstructure comprising long, ultrathin, uniform MOF nanofibers.

Application of Artificial Intelligence Software to Identify Emotions of Lung Cancer Patients in Preoperative Health Education: A Cross-Sectional Study.

Aim(s): To determine the correlation between preoperative health education and the emotions of lung cancer patients, artificial intelligence software was used.

Design: This was a cross-sectional study.

Methods: This study included 210 lung cancer patients from Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center and examined the impact of health education on patient emotions using an AI-based emotion analysis tool.

Diverse clinical manifestations and prognosis in a couple's mercury poisoning caused by skin-lightening creams: two case reports and literature review.

Skin exposure to mercury-containing creams occurs most commonly in young and middle-aged women and, in a few cases, in men. This article presents the symptoms and prognosis of a couple who developed mercury poisoning after cosmetic use of similar duration and dosage. Case 1 is a 33-year-old man who developed nephrotic syndrome after using skin-lightening creams containing mercury over 9 months.

Development of RelB-targeting small-molecule inhibitors of non-canonical NF-κB signaling with antitumor efficacy.

Dysfunction of the non-canonical nuclear factor κB (NF-κB) signaling pathway has been causally associated with numbers of cancers and autoimmune diseases. However, specific inhibitors for this signaling pathway remain to be developed. Here, we showed that structure-based cell-based screening yielded a potent and specific small molecule targeting RelB to inhibit the non-canonical NF-κB signaling pathway, while it had no inhibitory effect on the canonical NF-κB signaling pathway.
