Background: Malnutrition poses a significant global health challenge, affecting various age groups, with infants under 6 months being particularly vulnerable. Vitamin B12, an essential micronutrient critical for neurological development, has been identified as a key player in the overall health of both mothers and infants.

Aim: To find the correlation between serum vitamin B12 levels in infants, 1-6 months of age with severe malnutrition and maternal levels at tertiary care hospitals in western Rajasthan.

Developmental assessment of neonatal hypernatremic dehydration cohort was done at 18-30 mo of age using Developmental Assessment Scale for Indian Infants (DASII) score in relation to brain lesions detected on brain imaging. Long-term follow-up evaluations were performed in 45 out of initial cohort of neonatal hypernatremic dehydration and compared with 45 controls with normal sodium levels. Seven percent of infants in the study group had a delay in development at 24 mo of age.

This study investigates suspected African swine fever (ASF) outbreaks in two villages of Kannur district in Kerala, India, with the aim of identifying the causative agent and its genotype, the source of infection, and estimating the economic losses due to the outbreaks. Clinically, the disease was acute with high mortality, while gross pathology was characterized by widespread haemorrhages in various organs, especially the spleen, which was dark, enlarged and had friable cut surfaces with diffuse haemorrhages. Notably, histopathological examination revealed multifocal, diffuse haemorrhages in the splenic parenchyma and lymphoid depletion accompanied by lymphoid cell necrosis.

is an endangered herb known to produce the medicinally important picrosides through isoprenoid pathway. The present work showed the functionality of WRKY motifs (TGAC -acting elements) present in the promoters of regulatory genes 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl coenzyme A reductase () and 1-deoxy-d-xylulose-5-phosphate synthase () of the picrosides biosynthetic pathway by electrophoretic mobility shift assay. Also, the two genes, and were characterized and found to contain double and single characteristic WRKY domains, respectively along with a zinc-finger motif in each domain.

Fucoxanthin is commonly found in marine organisms; however, to date, it has been one of the scarcely explored natural compounds. We investigated its activities in human cancer cell culture-based viability, migration, and molecular assays, and found that it possesses strong anticancer and anti-metastatic activities that work irrespective of the p53 status of cancer cells. In our experiments, fucoxanthin caused the transcriptional suppression of mortalin.
