Solution-processed nanomaterials can be assembled by a range of interfacial techniques, including as stabilizers in Pickering emulsions. Two-dimensional (2D) materials present a promising route toward nanosheet-stabilized emulsions for functional segregated networks, while also facilitating surface energy studies. Here, we demonstrate emulsions stabilized by the 2D materials including the transition metal carbide MXene, titanium carbide (TiCT ), and develop an approach for measurement of nanosheet surface energy based on emulsion inversion.

Oxidation of indole by nitrate radical (NO) was previously proposed to form nitroindole, largely responsible for the brown color of indole secondary organic aerosol (SOA). As there are seven known nitroindole isomers, we used chromatographic separation to show that a single nitroindole isomer is produced in the indole + NO reaction and definitively assigned it to 3-nitroindole by comparison with chromatograms of nitroindole standards. Mass spectra of aerosolized 3-nitroindole particles were recorded with an aerosol mass spectrometer and directly compared to mass spectra of SOA from smog chamber oxidation of indole by NO in order to help identify peaks unique to nitroindole (/ 162, 132, and 116).

PCBP1, polycytosine (poly(C)) binding protein 1, an RNA and single-stranded DNA (ssDNA) binding protein, binds poly(C) DNA tracts but it remains unclear whether its ability to bind ssDNA contributes to transcriptional regulation. Here, we report that PCBP1's DNA binding sites are enriched at transcription start sites and that by binding to promoter regions, PCBP1 regulates transcription in addition to splicing and translation. At PCBP1 target genes, we show that PCBP1 interacts with several RNA/DNA hybrid (R-loop) associated G-quadruplex resolving helicases.

Background: Track PCC includes five geographic surveillance sites to conduct standardized population-based surveillance to estimate and track Post-COVID Conditions (PCC) by age, sex, race/ethnicity, geographic area, severity of initial infection, and risk factors among persons with evidence of SARS-CoV-2 infection (based on the Council of State and Territorial Epidemiologist [CSTE] case definitions for confirmed cases or laboratory-confirmed evidence of infection).

Methods: The study will estimate the incidence, prevalence, including temporal trends, and duration and severity of PCC symptoms, among children, adolescents, and adults. PCCs include a broad range of symptoms and conditions that continue or develop after acute SARS-CoV-2 infection or COVID-19 illness.

Structural design of 2D conjugated porous organic polymer films (2D CPOPs), by tuning linkage chemistries and pore sizes, provides great adaptability for various applications, including membrane separation. Here, four free-standing 2D CPOP films of imine- or hydrazone-linked polymers (ILP/HLP) in combination with benzene (B-ILP/HLP) and triphenylbenzene (TPB-ILP/HLP) aromatic cores are synthesized. The anisotropic disordered films, composed of polymeric layered structures, can be exfoliated into ultrathin 2D-nanosheets with layer-dependent electrical properties.

Physiologic changes of pregnancy are poorly tolerated in patients with pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH), and peripartum maternal mortality is high. The poly(rC) binding protein 1 gene (PCBP1) encodes the heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein E1 (hnRNPE1), a nucleic acid-binding protein that plays a tumor-suppressive role in the mammary epithelium by regulating phenotypic plasticity and cell fate. Following the loss of PCBP1 function, the FAM3C gene (encoding the Interleukin-like EMT inducer, or "ILEI" protein) and the leukemia inhibitory factor receptor (LIFR) gene are upregulated.
