Purpose: To evaluate the frequency of Human adenovirus (HAdV) and its serotypes in keratoconjunctivitis patients who attended the outpatient clinics of Mansoura Ophthalmic Center, Egypt.
Methods: Conjunctival secretions and corneal scrapings were collected from patients complaining of clinically diagnosed viral keratoconjunctivitis. The molecular method for HAdV detection was performed by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) followed by restriction enzymes (REA) determination of serotypes for hexone gene.
Background And Purpose: The advanced glycation end products (AGEs) have been implicated in different diseases' pathogenesis, but their role in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is still a matter of debate. This study aims to investigate the association of AGEs with HCC development in patients with hepatitis C-related cirrhosis.
Methods: Only 153 of the 181 non-diabetic patients with cirrhosis were consecutively involved in this pilot cohort prospective study, along with 34 healthy control participants.
Unlabelled: Hepatitis E virus (HEV) infection is one of the major public health problems in developing countries. HEV can cause chronic infections in immunocompromised individuals e.g.

Purpose: Autograft preparation for anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction has a potential for graft contamination. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the possibility of bacterial contamination of hamstring autograft during preparation and when dropped onto the operating room floor and methods of graft decontamination.
Methods: Sixty hamstring tendon autograft specimens were used as the test group.
Vancomycin resistant Enterococcus faecium (VREF) ia an emerging and challenging nosocomial pathogen. This study aimed to determine the prevalence, risk factors and clonal relationships between different VREF isolates in the intensive care units (ICUs) of the university hospitals in our geographic location. This prospective study was conducted from July, 2012 until September, 2013 on 781 patients who were admitted to the ICUs of the Mansoura University Hospitals (MUHs), and fulfilled the healthcare-associated infection (HAI) criteria.
