Background: Dexamethasone-induced neurotoxicity has been previously reported. However, the molecular mechanisms are still not completely understood.

Objectives: The current work aimed to investigate the modulatory effects of α- and β-adrenergic receptors on dexamethasone-induced neurotoxicity in rats focused on changes in β-arrestin2 and molecular markers of neural injury in cerebral cortex.

In breast cancer, there has been evidence of atypical activation of signal transduction and activators of transcription 3 (STAT3). Thymoquinone (TQ) exerts its anti-neoplastic effect through diverse mechanisms, including STAT3 inhibition. The tumor suppressor, microRNA-125a-5p was reported to be downregulated in various breast cancer cells.

Background: Connexins (Cxs) are gap junction proteins involved in the communication between acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and stromal cells. They consist of intercellular channels termed "connexions", which can cause uncontrolled cell proliferation if dysregulated. This study aimed to evaluate the expression levels of the and genes and their correlations with other prognostic markers in patients with AML.

Copeptin is a precursor for arginine vasopressin which is usually elevated in acute stress and cardiac emergencies. Bisphenol A (BPA) is an ideal plasticizing factor used in manufacturing of plastics and epoxy resins. To evaluate the cardio toxicity of bisphenol A and to assess copeptin as a cardio toxic diagnostic and prognostic biomarker in Wistar rats.

The rational of the current study was to assess whether Tribulus terrestris extract (TTE) could alleviate long-term copper (Cu) overload-induced testicular dysfunction compared to enalapril and losartan. Rats were administered either vehicle (control group, n = 10) or copper sulfate pentahydrate (CuSO·5HO, 200 mg/kg, p.o) for 90 days (n = 40).

Objectives: The main objective of this study was to study tumor necrosis factor beta (TNFB) + 252G/A gene polymorphism, known to be related to autoimmunity, in immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) patients. We also aimed to investigate the association between TNFB + 252G/A polymorphism and susceptibility to develop persistent/chronic ITP.

Methods: One hundred pediatric ITP patients, as well as 50 age- and sex-matched healthy Egyptian subjects, were included.

Objectives: This study determined the incidence of HPA1, HPA2 and HPA5 polymorphisms in 120 Egyptian immune thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP) patients and 120 healthy Egyptian subjects.

Methods: Human platelet antigen (HPA) genotyping was done using the polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism.

Results: The frequency of HPA1 allele a and b was 78.

Background: Chronic infection with hepatitis C virus (HCV) is associated with failures of T-cell-mediated immune clearance and with abnormal B-cell growth and activation. Hepatitis C virus infection is characterized by a systemic oxidative stress that is most likely caused by a combination of chronic inflammation, iron overload, liver damage, and proteins encoded by HCV. After a viral infection, multiple proinflammatory mediators contribute to recruitment of immune cells to the liver and to the generation of an antiviral immune response.

Background: Flow cytometry immunophenotyping (FCIP) is used for rapid, specific diagnosis of B-chronic lymphoproliferative disorders (BCLPDs). However, cases may deviate from the typical immunophenotype; therefore, there is a need for adding new marker(s) for differentiating BCLPDs.Lately, few researches highlighted CD200 expression in some BCLPDs.
