The literature on children born prematurely has consistently shown that full-term babies outperform preterm babies by about 12 IQ points, even when tested as adolescents, and this advantage for full-term infants extends to the language and motor domains as well. The results of comprehensive meta-analyses suggest that the degree of prematurity greatly influences later test performance, but these inferences are based on data from an array of separate studies with no control of potential confounding variables such as age. This study analyzed data for 66 extremely premature infants and toddlers (<32 weeks), 70 moderately premature children (32-36 weeks), and 133 full-term children.

Solar thermal fuel (STF) materials store energy through light-induced changes in the structures of photoactive molecular groups, and the stored energy is released as heat when the system undergoes reconversion to the ground-state structure. Solid-state STF devices could be useful for a range of applications; however, the light-induced structural changes required for energy storage are often limited or prevented by dense molecular packing in condensed phases. Evidence from nonhuman animal models demonstrates an important role for immune cells in hypertension, but immune cell changes in human hypertension are less clear. Using mass cytometry, we demonstrate novel and selective reductions in CCR10 regulatory T cells (Tregs) and PD-1CD57CD8 memory T cells. RNA sequencing reveals that CCR10 Tregs exhibit gene expression changes consistent with enhanced immunosuppressive function.
