Background: Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) performs well in the locoregional assessment of extranodal nasal-type NK/T-cell lymphoma (ENKTCL). It's important to assess the value of multi-modal MRI-based radiomics for estimating overall survival (OS) in patients with ENKTCL.

Methods: Patients with ENKTCL in a prospectively cohort were systemically reviewed and all the pretreatment MRI were acquisitioned.

Background: The selection of adaptive strategies in MR-guided adaptive radiotherapy (MRgART) usually relies on subjective review of anatomical changes. However, this kind of review may lead to improper selection of adaptive strategy for some fractions.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop prediction models based on deformation vector field (DVF) features for automatic and accurate strategy selection, using prostate cancer as an example.

Purpose: To investigate the prognostic value of gross tumor volume (GTV) in early-stage extranodal NK/T-cell lymphoma (ENKTCL) treated with intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) and explore the interactive effect of GTV and radiotherapy (RT) dose on locoregional recurrence (LRR).

Methods: The data of 319 early-stage ENKTCL patients who underwent IMRT were reviewed retrospectively. Overall survival (OS), progression-free survival (PFS), and locoregional control (LRC) were estimated using Kaplan-Meier method and compared using the log-rank test.

Inspired by water-forming NAD(P)H oxidases, a cooperative photobiocatalytic system has been designed to aerobically regenerate the oxidized nicotinamide cofactors. Photocatalysts enable NAD(P)H oxidation with O under visible-light irradiation, producing H O as a byproduct, which is subsequently used as an oxidant by the horseradish peroxidase mediator system (PMS) to oxidize NAD(P)H. The photobiocatalytic system shows a turnover frequency of 8800 min in the oxidation of NAD(P)H.

To investigate progression-free survival (PFS) and event-free survival (EFS) as early efficacy endpoints in diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL), this systematic review included phase III randomized controlled trials (RCTs), phase II trials, and retrospective studies in newly diagnosed DLBCL receiving rituximab-containing chemotherapy through databases search up to 2019. Quality control was performed, where studies with high risk of bias were excluded. Prediction models were first established using the RCTs, and then externally validated in the phase II and retrospective populations.

Bilirubin is a promising prognostic factor for non-liver disease-related deaths in various cancers. We investigated the association between preoperative serum bilirubin levels and oncological outcomes in patients with ovarian cancer. We retrospectively analyzed the clinical data of 282 patients with epithelial ovarian carcinoma (EOC), and grouped them according to optimal threshold values of total bilirubin (TBIL), direct bilirubin (DBIL), and indirect bilirubin (IBL) measured by receiver operating characteristic curve analysis.

Objective: To compare the difference of fertility of snails between self-fertilization and cross-fertilization and to observe the circadian rhythm of laying eggs, the effect of light on laying eggs and the tolerance of the snail to water and food deficiency, so as to provide the evidence for control and elimination of snails in the field.

Methods: Under laboratory conditions, a single egg for self-fertilization was separated and hatched individually, and young snails were raised in different plastic boxes individually. The eggs for cross-fertilization were hatched and the young snails were fed in the same plastic box.

Recently, China's participation in global health governance has been paid increasing global attention. This paper analyzed the current status and needs of African schistosomiasis control, the participation of China and international organizations in African schistosomiasis control and the progress of China Aid of Schistosomiasis Control in Zanzibar, with China Aid of Schistosomiasis Control in Zanzibar as an example. It is suggested that China may improve the capability of participation in global public health governance and international reputation through strengthening intergovernmental and international collaborations, providing successful disease control experiences and products and improving capability and team building.

Background: In the roadmap on the neglected tropical diseases (NTD) the World Health Organization (WHO) aims at attaining at least 75% coverage of preventive chemotherapy in pre-school and school-age children by 2020. A randomized controlled trial was used to compare the effectiveness of praziquantel in treating Schistosoma haematobium in Africa using two different sources for the drug, Merck Limited Partnership (KgaA), Germany and Nanjing Pharmaceutical Factory (NPF), China.

Methods: More than 6,000 participants testing positive for S.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aims to predict the risk of colonization and geographical distribution of a certain snail species in Mainland China using historical temperature data from 1955 to 2010.
  • Laboratory tests were conducted to determine the survival temperatures for different life stages of the snails, and temperature data was collected from 11 southern provinces of China, forming a GIS database for analysis.
  • Results indicated specific temperature thresholds for survival and development stages, revealing suitable regions for snail colonization, primarily in Hainan and parts of Yunnan, Guangxi, Guangdong, and Fujian.

Background: Volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT) is widely used in clinical practice. It not only significantly reduces treatment time, but also produces high-quality treatment plans. Current optimization approaches heavily rely on stochastic algorithms which are time-consuming and less repeatable.

Purpose: Digital Tomosynthesis (DTS), originally developed for diagnostic applications, has been recently introduced to image guided radiotherapy (IGRT). Due to limited scan range, DTS was featured by anisotropic spatial resolution. A new approach, integrated DTS (IDTS), was developed to improve image resolution of DTS for patient positioning in IGRT.

Objective: To investigate the survival of Schistosoma japonicum eggs in goat feces in natural marshlands and the factors affecting its survival, so as to provide evidences for understanding of the role of eggs in goat feces in the transmission of schistosomiasis and the development of the interventions pertaining to disease control and elimination.

Methods: The goat animals of schistosomiasis japonica were modeled in laboratory, and the feces of infected goat were collected. In laboratory, the effects of environmental temperature and water content in goat feces on egg hatching were evaluated, and in the field, the effect of duration of goat feces on marshland on egg hatching and the effect of direct sunshine on egg survival were evaluated.

Objective: To develop a simple, feasible goat feces collector to improve the collection accuracy and integrity of goat fecal samples without pollution, and to modify the miracidium hatching test with a plastic tube to achieve simple, standard and comparative procedures, so as to provide technical support for pathogenic diagnosis and scientific research of goat schistosomiasis japonica.

Methods: According to the body features of goat in marshland regions, a goat fecal collector, which was made of coarse fabric cottons, was devised, which was able to be fixed onto the goat buttocks and avoid urine pollution. Prior to miracidium hatching test, the goat fecal samples were pieced by using a mechanical method instead of the conventional artificial piecing method, and the effect of mechanical piecing treatment on miracidium hatching was evaluated.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aims to analyze the growth of schistosomes in goats and the resulting egg excretion to help manage the spread of schistosomiasis.
  • Adult worms were recovered from infected goats, with about one-third of cercariae developing into adults over 14 months, while egg excretion maintained a consistent pattern without significant decline.
  • The findings highlight that infected goats can continuously contribute to schistosomiasis transmission, showing no signs of self-cure, emphasizing their role as a significant infection source.

Objective: To quantitatively estimate the range and area of environmental contamination by the feces of -infected that were freely grazed, so as to provide the theoretical evidence for the scientific assessment of the role of the freely grazed goat in the transmission of schistosomiasis japonica and development of control strategy.

Methods: All the fecal samples excreted by the infected goat at daytime (12 h) were collected by using a self-made goat fecal collector, weighed and counted. The quantity and dispersal of the feces excreted by the freely grazed goat at daytime under a natural condition were investigated, and the walking route and speed of the freely grazed goat at daytime were recorded with a multifunction GPS data logger.
